Former MP Malti Sharma dead
Former Uttar Pradesh minister and parliamentarian Malti Sharma died.She was 89.
Sharma, a BJP leader was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly from Muzaffarnagar constituency in 1977. She was a former junior minister in Uttar Pradesh.
She was elected to Rajya Sabha in 1994.

Andhra Pradesh Lawmaker, 76, Dies In Car Crash In US
Veteran Telugu Desam Party leader, educationist and member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council MVVS Murthy died in a road accident in the USA. He was 76.
He also served as a member of Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam for two terms from 1991 to 1996 and 1999 to 2004.
MVVS Murthy and three others were killed in a car-truck collision on the highway near Alaska in the US, where he had gone to take part in the GITAM Alumni meet.

Oscar-winning animator Will Vinton passes away
Oscar-winning animator, Will Vinton passed away of at the age of 70.
Vinton is well known for coining the term 'Claymation'.
Vinton won an Oscar in for the 1975 animated short film 'Closed Mondays'. He was nominated for other animated films like Rip Van Winkle (1978) and The Creation (1981) to name a few.

Leon Lederman, father of 'the God particle', dies
Leon Lederman, a Nobel Prize–winning physicist and passionate advocate for science education who coined the term "the God particle," died.
Lederman and two colleagues shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1988 for their discovery, that elusive particles called neutrinos come in more than one type. Later, Lederman headed the team that discovered a particle called the bottom quark.
And he led Fermilab while it built its Tevatron collider, the world's highest energy atom smasher from 1983 to 2010.
He may be better identified with the neologism in the title of his 1993 book, The God Particle: If the Universe Is the Answer, What Is the Question?.

Prominent GandhianNatwarThakkar passes away.
On 7th October 2018, GandhianNatwarThakkar died following a short term illness, in Guwahati, Assam.
NatwarThakkar was 86 years old. He was born in 1932 in the then Bombay Presidency. He was a recipient of Padmashree award.
Since 1955 he had worked among the tribals of Nagaland to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi. He was popularly known as ‘Nagaland’s Gandhi’.
In 1955, he had set up a “Nagaland Gandhi Ashram” in Chuchuyimlang village in Nagaland.

Film trade expert Santosh Singh Jain dead.
He was a former Central Circuit Cine Association (CCCA) President for 34 years and former President of the Film Federation of India.
He was also addressed as ‘The Iron Man’.

Legendary Musician Annapurna Devi Passes Away.
She was an Indian surbahar player of Hindustani classical music and prominently known as 'Guruma'.
Annapurna Devi, the famously reclusive surbahar player and a teacher to the likes of PanditHariprasadChaurasia, NityanandHaldipur and Nikhil Banerjee passed away,
World renowned sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan was an older brother.
She was the daughter and disciple of Allauddin Khan and was married to sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.

Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft passed away.
He was an investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist who influenced many aspects of modern life from technology and science to sports and music.
Allen came up with the name ‘Microsoft’ and had left the company in 1983.
Allen was the founder and Chairman of Vulcan Inc., the privately-held company that managed his various business and philanthropic efforts.

Environmentalist G.D. Agarwal passes away following Ganga fast.
The 86-year old former IIT-Kanpur professor, Agarwal had been on hunger strike since June 22 for a period of 111 days for a pollution-free and uninterrupted flow in the Ganga died of a heart attack.
He had demanded that steps be taken to make the river free-flowing for natural cleansing, and also a ban on construction of all hydroelectric projects along the tributaries of the Ganga besides enactment of the Ganga Protection Management Act.
Agarwal, who is also known as Swami GyanSwaroopSanand, had given up water a couple of days ago after government failed to respond to his satyagraha.
N.D. Tiwari, former CM of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, passes away.
He began his career with the erstwhile Praja Socialist Party (PSP) to then serve his entire career in the Congress.
Apart from serving as the Minister of External Affairs in the Rajiv Gandhi Cabinet between 1986 and 1987, Mr. Tiwari was thrice elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in varied stints between 1976 and 1977, 1984 and 1985, 1988 and 1989, and was for one term the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, between 2002 and 2007.

Japanese Nobel Chemistry Laureate Shimomura Passes Away
Japanese-born Marine biologist Osamu Shimomura, who won the Nobel Prize in chemistry, has died.
Shimomura and two American scientists shared the 2008 Nobel prize for the discovery and development of a jellyfish protein that contributed to cancer studies.

Theatre veteran Na. Muthuswamy dies.
Veteran theatre personality Na. Muthuswamy, founder of avant-garde theatre group ‘Koothu-p-pattarai.
The group is known for plays centredaroundmodern, contemporary themes and the members incorporated several aspects of folk theatre, martial arts, mime and choreography to depict social issues and transformation.
Muthuswamy was awarded the SangeetNatakAkademi award in 1999 and Padma Shri in 2012.

Former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana passes away
Former Delhi Chief Minister and celebrated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Madan Lal Khurana passed away.
Mr. Khurana was a Chief Minister of Delhi from 1993 to 1996.
In addition to holding posts including national vice-president and Delhi president within the BJP, Mr. Khurana also served as Union Tourism Minister and Governor of Rajasthan.

TMC founder member Pankaj Bandyopadhyay passes away
Pankaj Bandyopadhyay, a founding member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), died following a long term illness, in Kolkata.
He was also former leader of the opposition in West Bengal assembly.
He joined the Congress during late 1960s. He became an MLA from Tollygunge constituency in 1972 and 1996.
He joined TMC when it was formed in 1998. He was the chairman of TMC’s policy-making body.

 Urdu Writer Qazi Abdussattar Passes Away
Padma Shri Professor Qazi Abdussattar, a noted Urdu writer and former head of Aligarh Muslim University's Urdu department, Born in Machretta village of Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district in 1933.
Winner of several national and international awards, Abdussattar was awarded Padma Shri in 1974. He was also the first recipient of Ghalib Academy Award in 1978.

  African American playwright Ntozake Shange passes away
Ntozake Shange original name was Paulette Linda Williams. Some of her important works are: Daddy Says (1989), From Okra to Greens/A Different Kinda Love Story (1983), Mother Courage and Her Children (1980), For Coloured Girls, etc.

Senior composer & lyricist Yashwant Dev passes away

Yashwant Dev was 92 years old. He had composed and written many popular Marathi songs..
He had received several awards like: Gan-samradni Lata Mangeshkar Award and Gadima puraskar. He had also worked in Music section of All India Radio, Mumbai.
