From 1st August, 2019, Sri Lankan Government has exempted Indian tourists from Visa Fees for tourism purposes. With this India is now among 48 countries whose citizens have been exempted from visa fees by Sri Lankan government.

India has signed Rs.1,500 crore deal to acquire R-27 air-to-air missiles from Russia for equipping Su-30MKI combat aircraft fleet of the Indian Air Force and for boosting its capabilities in beyond visual range warfare . It is a medium-to-long-range air-to-air missile. It is developed by Russia for its MiG and Sukhoi series of fighter jets. These Russian missiles with an extended range would give an added capability to Sukhois to take on enemy aircraft at long ranges.

According to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' annual report to the Security Council on Children and Armed Conflict, deaths and injuries were among more than 24,000 grave violations against children verified by the UN. It also added that a record number of more than 12,000 children were killed and injured in armed conflicts last year, with Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria and Yemen topping the casualty list.

On the bed of Red Sea off the coast of Aqaba, Jordan has unveiled its first Underwater Military Museum. The new underwater military museum contains several military vehicles, including tanks, troop carriers and even a decommissioned Jordanian Armed Forces’ AH-1 Cobra helicopter is been submerged into the waters of the Red Sea and before the vehicles were submerged, all hazardous materials were removed from them. Sunken items in the Underwater Museum have been stationed along the coral reefs in Red Sea imitating a battle tactical formation. The display Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) offers a new & unique type of museum experience for visiting tourists as the museum.

Boris Johnson was elected as the Conservative Party leader and Britain's new Prime Minister as announced by his party in London. Johnson, the former foreign secretary, won the battle for 10 Downing Street by defeating his rival Jeremy Hunt. The 55-year-old Brexit hardliner was the front runner in the race.

Ministerial meeting of Coordinating Bureau of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was held in Caracas, capital of Venezuela that has held the presidency of NAM since 2016 which will now be passed on to Azerbaijan in October 2019. India was represented by Indian envoy to United Nations Syed Akbaruddin. NAM was established in Belgrade in 1961 during Cold War so as to unite developing countries that are not part of any collective defense pacts in interest of any major power. It was a joint initiative of former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito. Its objective was around values of independence, sovereignty, equality and territorial integrity.

The United States Senate has passed a legislative provision that brings India at par with America's NATO allies and countries like Israel and South Korea for increasing defence cooperation. The amendment provides for increased US-India defence cooperation in the Indian Ocean in areas of humanitarian assistance, counter-terrorism, counter-piracy and maritime security.
