Ajay Data elected ICANN ccNSO council member
Ajay Data, Founder and CEO of Data XGen Plus, has become the first Indian to be appointed a member of the Country Code Names Supporting Organisation (ccNSO).
The ccNSO of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a policy-development body for global issues regarding country code top-level domains (ccTLD) within the ICANN structure.
The ICANN 2018 Nominating Committee announced the selection of leadership position for ccNSO. Ajay Data will take up the position at ICANN’s 63rd Annual General Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.

Indra Nooyi to step down in October after 12 years as PepsiCo CEO
PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi will step down after 12 years of leading the food and beverage giant.
Nooyi, 62, will leave the CEO role on October. Ramon Laguarta, a 22-year PepsiCo veteran who was promoted to president last year, will take over as the CEO. Nooyi was the first female CEO in the company’s history. She will, however, remain as chairman until early next year.
Nooyi steered PepsiCo a dozen years through the changing landscape. She pushed PepsiCo far beyond its cola roots, expanding into hummus, kombucha and other healthier products with mixed results.

Kolkata man tops IQ World list with score of 148
Amit Sahai, a 43-year-old IT professional who was born and brought up in Kolkata, has topped the prestigious Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test along with two other Americans. With 148 score, a Kolkata resident has secured pole position in the World IQ test.
IQ World LLC (IQ World) is a United States-based IQ Tests development company which provides services to many recruiting and HR companies and individuals. Recruiting agencies, schools and corporations use the IQ Tests to select their best candidates.

Paresh Sukthankar resigns as HDFC Bank's deputy managing director
HDFC Bank’s Paresh Sukthankar has resigned from the board of the country’s largest private sector bank. He will vacate the post of deputy managing director.
Sukthankar has been with HDFC Bank since its inception in 1994. Currently, he is overseeing the banks’ credit and risk management departments as well as finance and human resources.
He was appointed to the post of deputy managing director in March 2017. He will be serving the 90-day notice period.

PNB scam: Govt dismisses Usha Ananthasubramanian from service, gives CBI permission to prosecute
Nearly three months after Allahabad Bank divested its MD & CEO Usha Ananthasubramanian from all functional responsibilities, the government dismissed her from service. Ananthasubramanian is the former CEO & managing director of scam hit Punjab National Bank.
Ananthasubramanian was named in a CBI charge-sheet in the Rs 14,000 crore PNB fraud case but had continued to be an employee of the bank. She was to superannuate but has been dismissed from the service.
The government has also given permission to the CBI to prosecute Ananthasubramanian and Sanjiv Sharan, former executive director of the PNB.

Manchester City's David Silva retires from Spain duty
Spanish midfielder David Silva has joined compatriots Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique in retiring from international football.
The 32-year-old Manchester City playmaker won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in 2008 and 2012, a key player during Spain's golden era.
Silva scored 35 goals in 125 games for the national team over 12 years and was described as 'Spain's Lionel Messi' by former coach Vicente del Bosque.

Govt accepts NHB chief resignation, to probe alleged misconduct
The government has accepted the resignation of National Housing Bank Managing Director Sriram Kalyanaraman, even as an investigation has been ordered into alleged irregularities and misconduct committed by him as a regulator.
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) few months back ordered an inquiry to probe alleged misconduct committed by Kalyanaraman and subsequently sought his reply.

Scarlett Johansson tops Forbes list of highest paid female actor in the world
Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson has become the best-paid female actor in the world, according to Forbes magazine. Scarlett, 33, made USD 40.5 million in pre-tax earnings from June 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018, quadrupling her income from the previous year.
She played Black Widow in this year’s hit Marvel movie Avengers: Infinity War and will return to the role in the 2019 installment from Walt Disney Co’s Marvel Studios.
Jennifer Aniston came in third with USD 19.5 million, making the bulk of her profits from Emirates airlines, Smartwater, and Aveeno promotions, Forbes reports.

Infosys CFO Ranganath quits
M.D. Ranganath, chief financial officer (CFO) of Infosys, has resigned from his post, the company announced. He is the second senior-most official to quit after the departure of former CEO Vishal Sikka.

Srikumar Menon concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe
Shri Srikumar Menon, presently Ambassador of India to Angola, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, with residence in Luanda.He is expected to take up the assignment.

Najam Sethi resigns as PCB chief, Imran Khan nominates Ehsan Mani
Najam Sethi resigned from the post of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman as Prime Minister Imran Khan nominated former ICC president Ehsan Mani as his successor.
Sethi’s future in the PCB was under cloud after Imran was elected as Pakistan Prime Minister, as he never shared a very good rapport with the cricketer-turned-politician.

Ruchi Ghanashyam appointed India’s next High Commissioner to UK
Senior diplomat Ruchi Ghanashyam has been appointed as India’s next High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. She succeeds Y.K. Sinha who had assumed the charge as the Indian High Commissioner in the UK in December, 2016.
Ghanashyam, a 1982-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently Secretary at the headquarters and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
