Former ISRO chief Dr. Kasturirangan led Committee submitted the draft National Educational Policy (NEP) to HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in New Delhi.
The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Flight Lieutenant Mohana Singh became first ever woman pilot to fly by day on Hawk advanced jet aircraft. She completed an exhausting 4 Aircraft combat sortie which was the last lap of the syllabus sortie. She achieved this feat after rigorous training involving Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Air combat missions.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba who served as 23rd Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy will retire on 31 May 2019 after a distinguished career spanning more than four decades. Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa will take over as new Chairman COSC with effect from 31 May 2019 consequent to release of charge by Admiral Sunil Lanba upon his superannuation.

Flight Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth, who belongs to Darbhanga (Bihar), has created history by becoming the India’s first female fighter of the Indian AirForce (IAF). To qualify to undertake combat missions for day operations on a fighter aircraft her day operational training as a fighter pilot on the MiG-21 Bison aircraft.

Priyanka Mohite, the 26-year-old Satara based mountaineer, has become the first Indian woman to successfully scale Mount Makalu - the fifth-highest mountain in the world at 8,481 metres. The first ones to climb on Makalu were an American team led by Riley Keegan in 1954.

Indian expat Joginder Singh Salaria, founder of The PCT Humanity (Pehal Charitable Trust), set the Guinness world record with Iftar distribution. The PCT Humanity, (UAE), set a new Guinness World Records for ‘Longest Line of Hunger Relief Package’ in Abu Dhabi. The Hunger Relief Package efforts were in continuation to vegetarian Iftar which is held daily .The charity was held for hunger relief efforts during the Muslim’s holy month of Ramzan.

Sushma Swaraj
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is on a two-day visit to Kyrgyzstan capital Bishkek to represent India in the meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Co-operation Organization (SCO).  The meeting will be the second that India will be attending as a full member of SCO and will exchange views apart from the neuclear issues of international and regional importance. It will also review the preparations for the forthcoming SCO Summit in Bishkek which begins on the 13th of June, 2019.

India’s Captain Aarohi Pandit became world’s first woman to cross Atlantic Ocean (AO) solo in a Light Sports Aircraft (LSA) named Mahi. This is a part of her ongoing Women Empower (WE) Expedition in the tiny aircraft. Aarohi and her friend Captain Keithair Misquitta launched this one year-long global circumnavigation flight on July 30 and both began their trip in August 2018.

India and Bangladesh will jointly produce a movie based on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This film will be directed by eminent Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal.

Jagjit Pavadia
International Narcotics Control Board Jagjit Pavadia, (INCB) got another term to serve for another five-year. Her 2nd term begins from 2nd March, 2020. This India’s Jagjit Pavadia’s victory has added a feather in the cap of India’s successful record of winning crucial elections at United Nation (UN) and to UN’s subsidiary bodies.

Bandana set a Guinness World Records on ‘Longest Dancing Marathon by an Individual’. Bandana, an 18-year old girl from Nepal danced exclusively to Nepalese music continuously for 126 hours (over five days). According to old record India’s Kalamandalam Hemlatha, who danced continuously for 123 hours and 15 minutes in 2011. She performed classical dance form Mohiniyattam and set record at age of 37 yrs.

102nd birth anniversary of Giani Zail Singh

President Ram Nath Kovind paid tributes to former President Giani Zail Singh, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on his 102nd birth anniversary. Gyani Zail Singh was the seventh President of India (1982 -87). He was a politician with the Indian National Congress party. He had held several ministerial posts in the Union Cabinet, including that of Home Minister.

750th birth anniversary of Sri Vedanta Desikan
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu released a postage stamp to commemorate the 750th birth anniversary of Sri Vedanta Desikan in New Delhi. Sri Vedanta Desikan had authored philosophical treatises mainly Sanskrit, Tamil, Prakrit and Manipravalam. He had written brilliant poems, prose, drama, epics, commentaries and scientific texts.
Julian Assange
The 47-year-old Australian Julian Assange was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison. He is been awarded this punishment for jumping bail in 2012 and holing up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
