Balochistan High Court in Pakistan gets 1st woman Chief Justice
Justice Tahira Safdar was sworn in as the first woman chief justice in Pakistan’s Balochistan High Court.
She is the first woman ever to take the position of a chief justice in a Pakistan high court.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Arif Alvi elected new Pakistan president: Reports
Dr. Arif Alvi, one of the founding members of Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was elected as the new President of Pakistan.
Alvi defeated Pakistan People’s Party candidate Aitzaz Ahsan and the Pakistan Muslim League-N nominee Maulana Fazl ur Rehman in a three-way contest to become the 13th president. Of the 430 votes cast in the National Assembly and Senate, Alvi received 212 votes, Rehman bagged 131 and Ahsan garnered 81; six votes were rejected.

BSNL has roped in Indian boxer M.C.Mary Kom as its brand ambassador for two years. Mary Kom will endorse and be engage in promotional activities of BSNL for its various services.

Alok Amitabh Dimri appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Shri Alok Amitabh Dimri (IFS: 1998), presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kyrgyz Republic.

Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh nominated for 2nd term as Regional Director WHO South-East Asia
Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh was nominated for a second five-year term as Regional Director of WHO (World Health Organisation) South-East Asia.
Singh's candidature was unopposed, as the 11 Member countries of WHO South-East Asia Region met at the ongoing Regional Committee session to elect the next Regional Director.

Actor Akshay Kumar is proud about getting selected as an honorary ambassador for Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation.
The "Gold" actor took to Instagram and wrote: "Happy and proud to be the Honorary Ambassador of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation. Keep up the good work, Vinamra Shastri. We ought to live by Shastriji's 'Jai jawan jai kisan' motto for our great nation''.

Nepal: Om Prakash Mishra sworn-in as Chief Justice of Supreme Court
Justice Om Prakash Mishra has been sworn in as new Chief Justice of Nepal. The President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Mishra in Kathmandu.
Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) unanimously endorsed his name for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Justice Mishra was appointed as a justice of the Supreme Court in 2014.

S. Jaishankar, former foreign secretary joins board of USISPF
Former foreign secretary S. Jaishankar has joined the board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISP). Mr Jaishankar brings a wealth of experience to his position to the board of the USISPF.
Mr. Jaishankar is currently president of Global Corporate Affairs for the Tata Group.
Mr. Jaishankar held prominent posts in the Indian Foreign Service such as High Commissioner to Singapore, Ambassador to China, and Ambassador to the US. He is widely respected for playing a key role in negotiating the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement.

Compound archery coach Jiwanjot Singh Teja resigns after Dronacharya snub
Miffed at being dropped from the list of Dronacharya award nominees because of a past case of indiscipline, national compound archery coach Jiwanjot Singh Teja tendered his resignation.
Teja had travelled to Jakarta for the Asian Games with the national compound team as head coach.

Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) defaulted on interest payments and the CEO of its financial services unit quit as the beleaguered group struggles to deal with the crisis that is now threatening to spread to the entire financial services industry.
IL&FS Financial Services MD & CEO Ramesh Bawa along with four independent directors and a non-executive director quit just hours after the parent IL&FS informed lenders that it would be unable to make payments on Rs 250 crore of debt falling due.

Elon Musk to Step Down as Tesla Chairman
Elon Musk has agreed to step down as the chairman of Tesla Motors and pay $20 million as part of a settlement offered by Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Musk caved in 48 hours after the US markets watchdog filed a lawsuit against him, seeking to oust the multibillionaire innovator from the mobility company he founded over allegations of securities fraud. He now will have to pay $20 million and resign from the post of Tesla chairman within 45 days. He will be banned from the office for at least three years.
