December 1

4th India-Mozambique Joint Commission meeting held in New Delhi.
India-Mozambique Joint Commission on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation held its 4th session in Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, New Delhi.
The meeting was chaired by the External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr. Jose Condungua Antonio Pacheco.
Bilateral relations between the two countries were reviewed. In 2017, India was the largest destination for Mozambican exports, which accounted for 35% of its total export revenue.
National Archives of India and National Documentation and Information Center of Mozambique, signed a MoU to improve cooperation in the field of archival management.

First ever India Indonesia Business forum (IIBF) was held at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The forum was held as part of policies of Delhi and Jakarta to extend their strategic partnership in the Indo-Pacific Region including Indian Ocean Region.
It aimed to improve the commercial and people to people linkages between Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India with Aceh and North Sumatera Province of Indonesia.
This edition of IIBF is a part of continuing engagements between Aceh and Andaman, that started in July 2018, when the 1st Business Forum was held in Aceh.

3rd ASEAN – India Business Summit (AIBS) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Summit was organised by the ASEAN India Business Council (AIBC) Malaysian Chapter in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Summit consisted of 3 events: ASEAN India Business Conference, ASEAN India Business Excellence Awards and Gala Dinner.
It was organized under the guidance of Ministry of International Trade and Industries.
The award ceremony was presided by the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry YB Datuk Ignatius Darell Leiking.
Spice Garden group of restaurants owner Pradeep Batra was awarded the special ASEAN – India Achievement award for the businessman of year.

Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS) Organised ‘South Asia Regional Youth Peace Conference’ in New Delhi to mark celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
GSDS under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India organised a 3 day ‘South Asia Regional Youth Peace Conference’ in partnership with UNESCO- MGIEP and Standing Together to Enable Peace(STEP)
The objective of the conference is to eliminate stereotypes, prejudices across all borders, to understand micro-macro aspect of the issues, identify common challenges and develop plan of action, to build a network of youth leaders.
The Chief Guest in the Inaugural Session was Shri krishna G Kulkarni, great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and member of Government of India’s Committee to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation.

15th India Health Summit held in New Delhi.
The leading industry body, Confederation of Indian industry (CII) organised its Annual Flagship, 15th India Health Summit-2018 in New Delhi.
The theme of the summit this year is ‘Indian Healthcare – A Changing Paradigm’.
Ms Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare released a report, ‘Creating the New Ecosystems to Provide Healthcare’ on the occasion.
At India Health Summit-2018, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh mooted “Heli-Clinics”/ Helicopter Clinics for remote areas, which could particularly be of great help to provide specialized medical care to people living in inaccessible hilly terrains of the States like Jammu & Kashmir and Northeast.

Union Agriculture Minister inaugurated Global Agriculture and Food Summit 2018 in Jharkhand.
The two-day Global Agriculture and Food summit had been inaugurated by Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh in Tana Bhagat Stadium, Khel Gaon at Ranchi, Jharkhand. Governor of Jharkhand Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest for the closing ceremony
To showcase rich Agro ecosystem of Jharkhand and utilize the available potential in agriculture and food sector.
To focus on organic farming in Agriculture and Horticulture sector and simultaneously network with policy makers, agri equipment manufacturers, academicians, agri startups, agri ecosystem companies etc.

Climate Vulnerable Forum meeting is being held in Marshall Islands.
The first entirely online Heads of Government level intergovernmental meeting of Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) is being held in the Marshall Islands in order to raise a concern about Global warming and set a target to keep the rising temperature beyond 1.5 degree Celsius.
Climate Vulnerable Forum founded by Maldives government sought to increase awareness about the countries considered vulnerable to Global Warming. India is one of the Observer Country in the Forum.

G-20 Summit 2018 was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
G-20 is a grouping of the world's 20 major economies. This year, the theme of the summit was 'Building Consensus for Fair and Sustainable Development'.
PM Modi made the announcement of India hosting G20 summit in 2022 at the closing ceremony in Buenos Aires. It will coincide with India's 75th anniversary of Independence.

UN conference on climate change held in Poland.
The 24th meeting of Conference of Parties (COP-24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has begun at Katowice, Poland
The Conference ‘COP-24’ is very significant as it is expected to finalise guidelines for implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in 2016.
The union Environment Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan is leading a delegation from India.
India is setting up a Pavilion (Theme - ‘One World One Sun One Grid’) to create awareness about India’s positive climate actions in various sectors of the economy

Asia-Pacific Summit 2018 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This summit was organized by South Korea-based Universal Peace Federation and supported by the Government of Nepal.
Theme 2018 is ''Addressing the Critical Challenges of Our Time: Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity, and Universal Values''.
Focus on various global issues including peace, development, good governance and role of parliamentarians,climate change and role of media.

First 2-day India-ASEAN InnoTech Summit held in New Delhi.
The theme of the Summit was: ‘India ASEAN InnoTech Summit: Accelerating towards innovative development‘.
The main objective of the summit is to have B2G one to one meetings with ASEAN delegation of ministers, advisors, and other dignitaries to enable commercialization of research and promote cross country partnerships.
This provided the ASEAN-India Innovation Platform (AIIP) which is a major element of the enhanced the ASEAN-India S&T Development Fund (AISTDF), which is a part of ASEAN-India Science & Technology Collaboration.

The second meeting of NITI Forum for North East held in Guwahati.
The second meeting of the newly constituted NITI Forum for North East held in Guwahati, Assam.
It mainly focuses on issues pertaining to five critical sectors, namely tourism, bamboo, dairy, sheries and tea.
The meeting will be chaired by Vice Chairman NITI Aayog Dr. Rajiv Kumar while Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will co-chair the meeting.

India Water Impact Summit-2018 Held in New Delhi.
Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate India Water Impact Summit 2018, being jointly organized by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and the Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies (cGanga) in New Delhi.
The India Water Impact Summit is an annual event where stakeholders get together to discuss, debate and develop model solutions for some of the biggest water related problems in the country.
The discussions this year will be on rejuvenation of the Ganga River Basin.
Spotlight on 5 states: Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi and Bihar. The objective is to showcase the efforts and works going on within the respective states.

Two-day Conference on EU and India Partnership for Cultural Heritage Conservation held in National Museum Auditorium, Janpath, New Delhi.
The object of the conference is to enhance EU-India collaboration in the field of cultural heritage conservation.
The conference was inaugurated by: Minister of State (I/C) Shri. Hardeep Singh Puri.
As part of this, the Delegation of the European Union together with the National Museum Institute, Government of India, will convene 20 Indian and 18 European experts.

Three day 80th Session of Policy Commission of World Customs Organization organized by CBIC held in Mumbai.
It was organized by Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
It was inaugurated by Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, and was attended by 102 delegates from 33 nations.
The Indian delegation was headed by Chairman, CBIC, Shri S. Ramesh, along with Member (Customs), Shri PK Das and senior officers.
Objective of the WCO meeting was to discuss on various matters related to customs.
From 1st July 2018, India has taken over as the Vice-Chair of the Asia Pacific region for two years. India is a member of the WCO since 1971.

Annual Startup India Venture Capital Summit 2018 to be held in Goa
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Government of Goa, is hosting the annual Startup India Venture Capital Summit in Goa.
The theme of the Summit is 'Mobilizing Global Capital for Innovation in India'.
The event will showcase the Indian startup opportunity for funds from around the world. The summit aims to attract more global capital into the country.
Government of Goa is focused on building a vibrant startup ecosystem in the state. It aims to make the state, one of the most preferred start-up destinations in India, and ensure that Goa features in the top 25 start-up destinations in Asia by 2025.

UN Conference adopts global migration pact despite withdrawls
The non-binding deal was adopted in front of leaders and representatives from around 150 countries gathered for a two-day conference in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres described the pact as” roadmap to prevent suffering and chaos”.

The governor of Kerala P. Sathasivam inaugurated the event.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India in association with Government of Kerala organized the event.

Two day Conference ‘AYUSHCHARYA’ on Dinacharya and Ritucharya for public health promotion organised at New Delhi
All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi organized a National conference 'AYUSHCHARYA' on Dinacharya (Daily Regimen) and Ritucharya (Seasonal Regimen) for public health promotion.
About 200 academicians, physicians, scientists and researchers from all over country attended the Conference.

India, Russia mark 18th IRIGC-MTC meeting
The Defence Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman met with Russian Federation General Sergei Shoigu, marked the 18th meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC).
The Ministers expressed satisfaction progress in structured engagement between their armed forces, including joint exercises, resumption of training exchanges and other interactions in the framework of the Bilateral Road Map on Defence Cooperation.
The two sides also agreed to take forward inter-governmental arrangements for facilitating joint manufacturing of spares for Russian origin equipment in India, under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Katowice Announced as Host Venue of UN Climate Change Conference COP 24
This conference was held in Katowice, Poland.
The conference is expected to finalize the rules for implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change under the Paris Agreement work programme (PAWP).
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) annually holds a Conference of the Parties (COP) attended by around 200 countries.
These conferences also include a number of high-level events, mandated events, action events and roundtables.

Vizag hosts 4th ‘WHO Global Forum’ on medical devices
The representatives from about 100 nations gathered at Vizag for the 4th WHO Global Forum on medical devices.
This is for the first time that this conference came to India and was held at Visakhapatnam in Andhra MedTech Zone (AMTZ), India’s first and world’s most comprehensive medical technology park.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has been a strong proponent of World Health Organization’s initiative to convene the Global Forum on medical devices to improve access to safe, effective, innovative, accessible, affordable and appropriate medical devices.

High Level Meeting Between Indian and Indonesia Coast Guard
Director General Indian Coast Guard (DG ICG) Shri G. Rajendra Singh is hosting a seven-member delegation of the Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA) led by Chief of BAKAMLA Vice Admiral ATaufiqoerrochman in India.
India and Indonesia have established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and there is considerable emphasis from both sides to enhance bilateral defence cooperation including maritime security cooperation.
Mutual cooperation between the two agencies in the multilateral forum of Asian Coast Guards, ‘HACGAM’, was also acknowledged.

9th meeting of India-ROK Joint Commission held in Delhi
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Foreign Affairs Minister of South Korea Kang Kyung-wha co-chaired the 9th India-ROK Joint Commission meeting.
The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of common interest during the meeting.
Relations between India and South Korea have made great strides in recent years due to a significant convergence of interests, mutual goodwill and high-level exchanges.
India has consistently supported the reunification of the Korean peninsula, which has been well received by South Korea.

Vice President inaugurated the three-day conference on Soft Power in New Delhi
Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the two-day ‘International Conference on Yoga for Wellness’ at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
The conference is being organized by Ministry of AYUSH as a part of commemorating the celebration of 21st June as International Day of Yoga declared by the United Nations.

PM addresses Valedictory Ceremony at DGP/ IGP Conference at Kevadia in Gujarat
This conference is being held at a tent-city set up near the Statue of Unity at Kevadiya in Narmada district of Gujarat.
The Prime Minister stressed on the importance of Inter-State coordination, in tackling crime.
This police conference is an annual event in which the top police officers from all over the country share and discuss security-related issues.

India and China hold 1st People to People exchanges meeting
External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi chaired the first meeting of the mechanism.
India and China identified 10 areas, ranging from films and television to yoga, for boosting cooperation under a new high level mechanism for cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
The mechanism will club together more than 40 existing programmes for cooperation in culture and people-to-people exchanges and also include some new schemes.

The 15th edition of a two day Global SME Business Summit was organized by the Ministry of MSME and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Government e-marketplace in New Delhi.
The theme of the Summit is ‘Building Partnerships through Global Value Chains'.
The agenda of the summit was to bring together renowned speakers with unbounded experience and expertise, a global audience, and various national and international SME stakeholders to integrate Indian MSMEs into the Global Value Chains (GVCs).
Mobile app for global aviation summit to be held in Mumbai
The app named 'GAS 2019,' which is available on play store and iOS, enables users to interact with the co-delegates and speakers besides providing a platform for networking through personal and group chats.
The Global Aviation Summit would take place on January 15-16, 2019 at Mumbai.

31st Meeting of the GST Council under the chairmanship of FM Arun Jaitley was held in New Delhi
Six items have been removed from the 28 per cent tax bracket under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.
Rates have been reduced for 22 items under the 28 per cent slab.
GST for cinema tickets less than Rs 100 reduced from 18% to 12%, for tickets above than Rs 100, GST reduced from 28% to 18%.
It will have an overall impact on 5500 crore rupees on revenue.

41st Meeting of Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee Held in New Delhi
In this meeting, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of another 3,10,597 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned 1,08,135 houses while the sanction for Karnataka is 1,05,502 affordable houses.
A total of 864 projects with a project cost of Rs 14,662 crore with central assistance of Rs 4,658 crore has been approved in the meeting held under the Chairmanship of Shri Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
