July 1

9th meeting of EPG on Indo-Nepal relations concludes in Kathmandu
The ninth and final meeting of Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on India-Nepal relations concluded in Kathmandu to discuss various bilateral issues including 1950 Peace and Friendship treaty, trade, transit and border during the two day meeting.
The EPG is a joint mechanism consisting experts and intellectuals from India and Nepal. It was set up in February 2016 to make suggestions for updating all existing bilateral treaties and agreements between both the countries.
The EPG is completing its two-year tenure next month.

Union Agriculture Minister chairs inter-session meeting of consultative committee on ''Marine Fisheries-Mariculture in India'' at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has notified the "National Policy on Marine Fisheries, 2017", which will guide the development of marine fisheries sector for the next 10 years.
The inter-session meeting of the consultative committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on ''Marine Fisheries-Mariculture in India'' in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.
Shri Radha Mohan Singh informed that the government has also included a sub-component namely, 'Assistance for Deep-Sea Fishing' under 'Blue-Revolution'. Under this scheme, traditional fishermen, their associations/organizations or self-help groups are provided with central financial assistance upto 50% of the cost of the vessels i.e. Rs 40 lakh for 'Deep-Sea Fishing Vessels'.
For implementation of this scheme, Rs 312 crore of central share has been released in the first year (2017-18) to benefit the traditional fishermen of the country.

Conference of States Power Ministers to be held at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh
A conference of Ministers for Power, New & Renewable Energy of States & Union Territories will be held at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
The Conference will be inaugurated by Shri R.K. Singh, Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy.
The aim of this one-day conference is to review the implementation of various ongoing Schemes/ Programmes & deliberate on a host of issues pertaining to Power and Renewable Energy sectors.
Ministers and Secretaries of the States and Union territories and senior officials of the power & renewable energy sectors and Public Sector Undertakings under them will meet up to discuss issues like- 100 per cent Household Electrification (under Saubhagya) by December, 2018, UDAY performance assessment, shifting to prepaid system in three years and 24X7 Power for All From 1st April 2019.

1st meeting of Cauvery Water Management Board held in Central Water Commission, Delhi
The first meeting of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) was held at Central Water Commission (CWC) office in Delhi.It was chaired by the CWC Chairman, S Masood Hussain, who is also heading the Cauvery Authority.
To discuss on release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu from Karnataka as per the schedule & drawing up a plan of action for three ten-day periods, beginning July 2018.
The members of CWMA from Tamil Nadu demanded immediate release of water as Karnataka dams have sufficient storage.
The Authority discussed the information on total residual storage in Banasura Sagar (Kerala); Hemavathi, Harangi, Kabini, and Krishnarajasagara (Karnataka); Lower Bhavani, Amaravathy and Mettur (Tamil Nadu), as on June 1.
Discussions on : Format for maintaining data of inflow, outflow, withdrawal, storage, rainfall, cropped area and domestic and industrial requirement to be maintained by the CWRC, requirement of data regarding actual yield in the basin from June 1 to June 30.

NITI Aayog to organise India’s First Global Mobility Summit
Steeply falling technology costs and business model innovation are driving the world’s transition to renewable energy and electric vehicles. Against this background, NITI Aayog, in collaboration with various ministries and industry partners, is organising ‘MOVE: Global Mobility Summit’ in New Delhi on 7th and 8th September, 2018.
This Summit will help drive Government’s goals for vehicle electrification, renewable energy integration and job growth and also speed up India’s transition to a clean energy economy.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Summit, which will be the first Global Mobility Summit of its kind, with over 1,200 expected participants from across the world including Government leadership, Industry leaders, Research Organizations, Academia ,Think Tanks and Civil Society Organisations.
MOVE Summit aims to bring together and engage with key stakeholders within the rapidly transforming global mobility landscape and to evolve a public interest framework for a shared, connected, zero emission and inclusive mobility agenda for the future. The Summit will constitute three designated components – The Conclave, the Expo and the Featured Events.

PM addresses International Convention of Saurashtra Patel Cultural Samaj through video conference
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the 8th International Convention of Saurashtra Patel Cultural Samaj through video conference. The International Convention of Saurashtra Patel Cultural Samaj is being held in California, United States of America.
Shri Naredra Modi appealed to NRI community to motivate at least five foreign families to visit India every year for Bharat Darshan.
This can help in boosting India’s tourism development through Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat Abhiyan scheme.
India would celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, beginning from 2nd of October.
A mammoth Statue of Unity in the name of the Iron Man of India is being constructed on River Narmada and it will be completed on 31st October 2018.This would be the highest statue in the world.
Initiatives like GST and strict action against corruption have resulted in 42-place jump in the Ease of Doing Business rankings in the last four years.
And various schemes of the Government, like Swachh Bharat has boosted tourism in the country.

2nd meeting of India & Nepal joint working group on tourism concludes
This is first of its kind cooperation mechanism in the region wherein any two countries have agreed to promote each other’s’ tourist destinations.
The decision was taken at the 2nd meeting of the joint working group on tourism cooperation between India and Nepal concluded in Kathmandu.
The group also decided to establish Indo-Nepal Tourism Forum which would be an industry-led cooperation forum with support of the two Governments.
The Indian delegation was led by the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism Suman Billa, while Nepalese side was led by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ghanshyam Upadhyaya.
The group was formed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Nepal in 2014 to enhance cooperation in tourism between the two countries.
The next meeting of the group would be held in New Delhi at a mutually convenient date.

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar to inaugurate 17th World Sanskrit Conference in Vancouver, Canada
Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate the 17th World Sanskrit Conference to be held at Vancouver, Canada.
More than 500 scholars and delegates from over 40 countries will be participating in this conference and exchange their knowledge by presenting papers on various subjects followed by discussions from amongst the members.
There will be a special panel discussion on over a dozen topics like; History & Education of Women in Vedic Literature; Sanskrit Buddhist Manuscripts; Mimamsa Beyond the Yagasala; The Yuktidipika Forging a Place for Sankhya; Introducing Bhagavata Purana Commentaries; Research on the Gargiyajyotisa.
Over 500 papers on various themes are likely to be presented during the 5-day conference. The purpose of this conference is to promote, preserve and practice the Sanskrit language all over the world by the people.
The World Sanskrit Conference is being held in various countries across the globe once in every three years and so far it has been held thrice in India.
Besides the Minister, 10 scholars and two officers are part of the Indian delegation participating in the 17th World Sanskrit Conference.

International Round Table Conference on “Data for New India’’
The Ministry of Statistics &Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is organising a two-day International Round Table Conference at New Delhi.
The objective of the Round Table Conference is to identify innovative ideas for improving the statistical system in India, taking cue from the best practices followed in advanced countries like Canada, UK and Australia. Such a Conference is being organized in India for the first time.
The Conference will be inaugurated by Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Statistics & Programme Implementation in the presence of Shri Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Minister of State and Shri K.V. Eapen, Secretary, Statistics & Programme Implementation.
The event will be participated by Shri Anil Arora, Chief Statistician, Statistics Canada, Shri Jonathan Palmer, former Deputy Statistician, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Shri Junaid Ahmad, World Bank Country Director for India, statistical experts and senior officers in the Government. Shri John Pullinger, Chief Statistician of United Kingdom will participate in the conference through video conferencing.

India to hold annual Delhi Dialogue with Asean leaders
India is set to hold the tenth edition of Delhi Dialogue, the premier annual event to discuss politico-security, economic and socio-cultural engagement between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj will chair the ministerial session on 19 July. Singapore foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Vietnam deputy foreign minister Vu Hong Nam have confirmed their presence.
The Delhi Dialogue has been held annually since 2009 and political leaders, policy makers, senior officials, diplomats, think tanks and academicians from both sides participate in the discussions pertaining to ASEAN-India relations.
The meet is aimed at finding a common ground and expanding the scope of cooperation between India and ASEAN nations.

The 6th edition of the biennial World Cities Summit, the leading global platform to drive and connect innovators in sustainable integrated urban solutions, kicked off in Singapore.

First meeting of Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on coordination between MGNREGA and Agriculture held at NITI Aayog
The First Meeting of Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on coordination between MGNREGA and Agriculture was held at NITI Aayog.
The Convener of the Sub-Group Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh participated in the meeting in person.
Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar and Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani joined in the deliberations through video conferencing. Shri N. Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Ms Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal sent their suggestions in writing to the Convener of the sub-group. Member (Agriculture), NITI Aayog Prof. Ramesh Chand, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog; Secretary, Rural Development; Chief Executive Officer, NRAA, Senior Officers of NITI Aayog, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Agriculture and State Government of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh attended the delibeartions.
At the outset, all the Chief Ministers welcomed the decision taken by the Prime Minister to constitute the Sub-Group for suggesting ways and means about use of employment under MGNREGS for improving agriculture and reducing cost.
They appreciated the role of NITI Aayog in convening the meeting at an early date. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh suggested use of MGNREGA funds in supplementing labour costs in agriculture and fencing of farm land to protect it from wild animals, etc.

4th National Conclave on Mines and Minerals will strengthen mineral auction regime
The 4th National Conclave on Mines & Minerals will be held at Indore for showcasing blocks which will be auctioned by the states in FY 2018-19 to the potential investors.
It will carry forward the efforts of the Government for strengthening the mineral auction regime as well as help in expediting auctions and bring in greater participation from the stakeholders.
The Central and State Governments have been working in coordination with each other to further strengthen the auction regime, and to identify more and more mineral blocks for auction to increase domestic mineral production.
This Mining Conclave will provide unique opportunity to the State Governments to showcase their auctionable mineral blocks with regard to its exploration, mineral resources, transport connectivity from mineral block, policy scenario in State and incentives to attract prospective investors.
It will also provide a great opportunity to the investors to identify the mineral blocks and participate in the auction of suitable mineral blocks.

I​ndia and China hold maritime security dialogue in Beijing
India and China discussed maritime security issues and prospects for bilateral cooperation for the first time since Prime Minister Narendra Modi had enunciated India's policy on the strategic Indo-Pacific region amidst Beijing flexing muscles in the South and East China seas.
The two sides held their second maritime security dialogue during which the Indian side elaborated on its vision for the Indo-Pacific region as articulated in Prime Minister Modi's keynote address at this year's Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
The two countries had held the inaugural maritime security dialogue in 2016 in New Delhi amid tensions over the South China Sea. It was not held last year.
The first dialogue covered a range of issues of mutual interest, including exchange of perspectives on maritime security and prospects for maritime cooperation between the two countries.

National Tourism Conclave, Rajasthan deliberated on Smart Tourism
The second National Tourism Conclave, Rajasthan was inaugurated by top officials of the State Tourism Department in Jaipur.
The conclave organised byDepartment of Tourism and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, Government of Rajasthan, along with Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd, swa congregation of various tourism policymakers from across the country.
Tourism in Rajasthan is set for taking a giant leap forward with several initiatives being taken by the state government.The State has something for all kind of tourism lovers and aggressive marketing strategy of the government has further bolstered the sector.

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin held first summit at Helsinki in Finland
US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held the first summit at Helsinki in Finland. Trump’s meeting with Putin comes days after a federal grand jury indicted 12 Russian intelligence officials on charges of hacking the servers of the Democratic National Committee and that of its 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Host Finland President Sauli Niinisto met Trump before Trump and Putin sit down to a bilateral meeting first without aides and then with their teams of support staff.

Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj co-chaired the second India-Bahrain High Joint Commission meeting with her Bahraini counterpart Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa in Bahrain's Manama.
Shaikh Khalifa praised the contribution of Indian community settled in Bahrain towards the economic development of Bahrain.
She jointly inaugurated impressive Embassy of India Complex in Manama along with her Bahraini counterpart.
The new embassy complex is equipped with State-of-the-art Facilities to cater the growing need of people of both countries. This is External Affairs Minister's 3rd visit to Bahrain.

Shri Javedkar to inaugurate the Conference of Heads of AYUSH National Institutes
With an aim of upgrading quality of education, research, hospital care facilities in the national AYUSH institutions throughout the country and develop them as light house institutions, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under Ministry of AYUSH is organizing two days Conference of Heads of AYUSH National Institutes at India International Centre, New Delhi.
During the deliberations, Vice Chancellors of various Health Universities, Directors of reputed research organizations and around 100 accomplished senior professionals from various national institutes including IIT, DST, DBT, UGC etc are expected to take part in the event. It is also planned to join hands together and sign MoUs with Sports Authority of India, Indian Institute of Technology for collaborative ventures.
In light of the worldwide changing healthcare environment, it has become abundantly clear that there is a need for comprehensive review of traditional systems of medicine in terms of policy, legislation, regulation, research, development, financing, training and professional development, quality control and safety regulations of these systems of medicine.
8th India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting Begins in Muscat
The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, co-chaired 8th session of India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) along with Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy of Oman, Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy.
Addressing the Joint Commission Suresh Prabhu invited Omani companies to build on their success in India and make investments to benefit from ‘Make in India’ and ‘Invest India’ programmes which are aimed to encourage manufacturing.
The Government of India has launched several investment friendly programmes like‘Make in India’ with a trillion dollar business opportunity in the country.
Both countries are keen to expand collaborations to their mutual benefit in the fields of energy, health, business, finance and investments, infrastructure, travel and tourism. Suresh Prabhu added that apart from official interactions, people-to-people contacts and initiatives by private sector will energise cooperation in various sectors.
Areas of discussion in the JCM include cooperation in space, renewable energy, start-up, SMEs, food security, including durable foods and packaging, services sector, tourism sector, exchange of ideas and visit of young entrepreneurs.
The Sultanate of Oman is a strategic partner of India in the Gulf and the two countries enjoy warm and cordial relations.

Indo-US delegation meeting on Defence Cooperation held in New Delhi
As part of Indo-US Bilateral Defence Cooperation, the 7th Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) meeting was held between India and the US delegation in New Delhi.
The meeting was co-chaired by, Secretary (Defence Production), Dr Ajay Kumar and Under Secretary of Defence for Acquisition and Sustainment, DoD, US Government Ms Ellen M Lord.
The meetings are held twice a year, alternately in India and the USA with the aim to bring sustained leadership focus to the bilateral defence trade relationship and create opportunities for co-production and co-development of defence equipment.

Sushma Swaraj to host 10th edition of Delhi Dialogue
External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj will host the 10th edition of the Delhi Dialogue (DD X) in the national capital from July 19 to July 20. The theme of this year's DD X will be "Strengthening India-ASEAN Maritime Cooperation''.
Delhi Dialogue is a premier annual event to discuss politico-security, the economic and socio-cultural engagement between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
This will be the first major event to be organised after the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit, which was held in New Delhi earlier in January this year. DD X is being organised in partnership with the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS).

India, Japan hold Maritime Affairs Dialogue
India and Japan held the fourth round of Maritime Affairs Dialogue in New Delhi. During the dialogue, key issues related to the Indo-Pacific region and maritime security were discussed.
The Indian delegation at the dialogue was led by Pankaj Sharma, Joint Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs) in the External Affairs Ministry, while the Japanese side was led by Ambassador Kansuke Nagaoka, Policy Planning and International Security Policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

India has fast-tracked many initiatives aimed at achieving all the core tenets of Universal Health Coverage i.e, strengthening health systems, improving access to free medicines and diagnostics and reducing catastrophic healthcare spending.

NITI Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform organizes Workshop on Empowering Women
NITI Aayog's Women Entrepreneurship Platform( WEP) and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Office of International Programmes (OIP) University of Delhi, jointly organised a Two-Day International conference on "Empowering Women: Fostering Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Sustainability.
The Inaugural event was presided by Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India as Chief Guest, Dr Kiran Bedi, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, as Guest of Honor, Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, and Shri Ajay S. Shri Ram, Chairman, Governing Body, SRCC.
The Vice President in his address emphasized on increasing education and skilling for the economic empowerment of women and stressed on the need for propagating an attitudinal change for the same. Based on the mantra given by the Prime Minister, he underscored the ‘Reforming, Performing and Transforming’ role to be played by NITI Aayog.

28th Meeting of GST Council Held in New Delhi
The 28th meeting of the GST Council chaired by interim finance minister Piyush Goyal was held in New Delhi.
The Council was deliberated upon a number of key issues on its agenda which includes rate revision on a number of items, amendments to the GST law, simplification of return, and the setting up of a National Appellate Tribunal in Delhi.
The GST Council has exempted sanitary napkins from Goods and Services Tax. Earlier, there was a 12% levy of tax on sanitary napkins.
It has also recommended reduction in the GST slab for lithium-ion batteries used in electronic items from the current 28% to 18% along with a slew of reductions in other items like bamboo flooring, ice making machines, vending machines, water coolers etc.

7th Annual General Body Meeting of Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development (ITRHD) was held in New Delhi
The 7th Annual General Body Meeting of Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development (ITRHD) took place in New Delhi.
This meeting was aimed at recognizing efforts of preservation of Indian Heritage and Culture in Rural India and working in about 7 states of India by ITRHD.
ITRHD is an NGO who has done conservational work on 17th -19th century village of terracotta temples, Maluti, dumka, in Jharkand, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
The project involved conserving 62 temples of the 108 temples.
The project costed about Rupees 6.57 crores.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates 3-day National Traders' Conclave in New Delhi
The economic reforms undertaken by the Government under leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the last four years will push India among the world's top economies, in next two-three years India's economy will be among the top five.
The issues expected to be discussed include, the simplification of GST, policy for e-commerce, relevance of FDI in retail business, digital payment requirement and digitization of current retail business, easy availability of loans to traders etc.
Government has tried to find solutions of all issues raised by states.
Different sessions will be held on all three days to discus individual issues. Post Conclave, the CAIT IS likely to submit its recommendations to govt for implementation.

First Meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Committee on Border HaatsHeld in Agartala
The first meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Committee on Border Haats was held in Agartala, Tripura.The meeting reveal about the positive impact of Border Hatts on the livelihoods of the people living in areas around the Haats.
iOther issues related to review of operations of the four functional Border Haats and suggestions for improvement, timeline for setting up the six additional Border Haats.
The next meeting would be held in Bangladesh on mutually agreed dates.
The Joint Committee visited the Border Haat at Kamlasagar (Sipahijala District, Tripura) - Tarapur (Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Border Haats between India and Bangladesh signed on 8th April 2017 provides for establishment of a Joint Committee to review the border haats operations, suggest modifications in the operational modalities and propose new locations of Border Haats.

2nd meeting of National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges under POSHAN Abhiyaan held in New Delhi
Ministry of Women and Child Development had organized the 2nd meeting of National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges under POSHAN Abhiyaan in New Dehli under the Chairmanship of Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar, NITI Aayog.
It was declared that the month of September will be celebrated as National Nutrition Month every year.
The Government of India has set-up POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) which was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 8th March, 2018 from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
The programme through use of technology, a targeted approach and convergence strives to reduce the level of Stunting, Under-nutrition, Anemia and Low Birth Weight in Children, as also, focus on Adolescent Girls, Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers, thus holistically addressing malnutrition.

Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Attends Global Disability Summit 2018, London, Uk
Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment attended the Global Disability Summit held in London.
The motto of the Conference was to firm up the commitments of the country leaders towards the cause of persons with disabilities.
The Global leaders expressed their commitments towards elimination stigma and discrimination, promoting inclusive education, economic empowerment, technology and innovation in assistive devices, data desegregation etc.
Besides India, global leaders from more than 40 countries attended the summit and have committed themselves to work in the direction of economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.
While reiterating India’s commitments to international principles, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot put forth the initiative taken by the Government of India for empowerment of persons with disabilities.
The participants in the summit appreciated the efforts of the Government of India towards empowerment and inclusion of PwDs.

2nd Young Superintendent of Police Conference held in New Delhi
The 2nd Young Superintendent ofPolice Conference was held in New Delhi.
The 2-day conference was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The conference was organized by Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D).
Young Superintendent of Police Conference The theme of two day conference was “Predictive Policing and Contemporary Challenges for Indian Police Forces” It was attended by over 100 Superintendents of Police (SPs) & senior officers from the States & CAPFs.
The purpose of the 2-day conference is to create awareness among young SPs and Commandants regarding latest technologies in areas of arti×cial intelligence (AI), predictive policing, crime analytics, dig data analytics, geospatial technology, cybercrime, surveillance tracking & UAVs, CCTV equipment, for effective delivery of police services tocitizens.

6th India-UK Science & Innovation Council (SIC) Meeting held in New Delhi
The 6th India-UK Science & Innovation Council (SIC) meeting held in New Delhi discussed a range of issues on S&T cooperation between the two countries .Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences & Environment, Forests and Climate Change, India and Mr. Sam Gyimah, Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, UK led the Indian and UK delegations respectively.
Noting the success of the Newton Bhabha partnership through which India and UK are jointly delivering cutting edge science and Technology solutions to societal challenges, Dr. Harsh Vardhan expressed the need to establish few more Network Centres in areas such as Cyber Physical System- Artificial Intelligence, digital Economy, health technologies, cyber security and promoting clean growth, smart urbanization, future mobility and environment.

The 11th state-level pineapple festival cum Sellers & Buyers Meet and Youth Festival, 2018, was held in Thambalnu Market Complex under Andro constituency in Thoubal district of Manipur.

The festival was organized by Development Organisation, Andro Kendra (DOAK) through Eastern Border Area Development Authority. It was inaugurated by Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla.
In this festival, sellers and buyers met to promote pineapple as a viable cash crop and help the farmers to attain a sustainable livelihood.
The festival aimed to help the farmers to become economically stable and enhance their livelihood.
163 pineapple stalls and 32 food stalls were put up by indigenous tribes from Andro AC in the festival. The festival is celebrated since 2008.
Najma Heptulla also inaugurated a cold storage unit constructed under Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation at Thambalnu Market Complex.

Unified Commanders’ Conference 2018 Starts In New Delhi
The two-day Unified Commanders’ Conference (UCC) for the year 2018 started at New Delhi.
The Annual Conference provides a platform for discussions at the Apex Level on all ‘Joint Issues’ amongst the three Services & Ministry of Defence and enables stock-taking of the previous year and planning the way ahead for the next year.
During the conference, under the chairmanship of the Chief of Integrated Staff (CISC), a large number of Tri-Services issues would be deliberated thoroughly to arrive at a solution to challenges faced and to evolve plans for the future.
