19th Meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) held under the Chairmanship of the Union Finance Minister, ShriArunJaitley in New Delhi.
It reviewed the current global and domestic economic situation and financial sector performance.
The Council discussed at length the issue of real interest rate, current liquidity situation, including segmental liquidity position in NBFCs and mutual fund space

The Fourth Dialogue of the NITI Aayog – Development Research Centre (DRC) of the State Council, Peoples’ Republic of China was held in Mumbai.

 The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Li Wei, President of DRC and the Indian delegation was led by Dr Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog.
The meeting focused on the topics of the global economic situation and China-India macroeconomic policy, innovation, open development and economic transformation and the potential and prospects of China-India economic and trade investment cooperation.

Indian Air Force (IAF) Seminar On ‘Emerging Trends In Aviation Engineering And Logistics’ (AVIAMAT - 2018) held in New Delhi.
Indian Air Force has organised a two day seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Aviation Engineering and Logistics’ (AVIAMAT - 2018) at Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi.
The Seminar brought together designers, producers and users of high-tech aviation equipment to discuss the potential of innovative indigenous technologies.
The 3-day 2nd edition of the Navy Commanders’ Conference of 2018 commenced in New Delhi.
 The themes for this conference were: ‘Optimisation’ and ‘Emerging Technologies’.

18th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers Meeting was held in Durban, South Africa.
Theme of the IORA meeting was: “IORA: Uniting the Peoples of Africa, Asia, Australasia and the Middle East through enhanced cooperation for Peace, Stability And Sustainable Development”.
South Africa is the current chairman of the IORA organization.

The First World Health Organization (WHO) Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health took place at WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The conference was organized in collaboration with UN Environment, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC), the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the World Bank and the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

President Kovind inaugurates GyanKumbh in Haridwar
President Ram NathKovind inaugurated the first GyanKumbh in Uttarakhand, which is being jointly organised by the Higher Education Department of the Uttarakhand Government and the University of Patanjali in Haridwar.
While addressing the gathering, President Kovind said that the objective of the GyanKumbh is to enhance the quality of education in India.

DHARMA GUARDIAN – 2018: a 14-day joint military exercise between Indian & Japanese Armies commenced in Mizoram.
First-of-its-kind exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN – 2018, a joint military exercise between Indian & Japanese Armies, commenced at Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, Vairengete, Mizoram, India.
The exercise aims to build and promote army to army relations in addition to exchanging skills.

 The 3-day 78th annual conference of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics was held in New Delhi.

Indo - French Conclave was held in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in which French and Indian firms signed 12 agreements worth 200 million euro.
organized by Indo French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) and the Embassy of France in India.

National Seminar on Entrepreneurship & Business Development in Ayurveda begins in New Delhi
A two-day National Seminar on Entrepreneurship and Business Development in Ayurveda has begun in New Delhi. The seminar has been organised by the AYUSH Ministry.
The seminar is expected to develop awareness among stakeholders about business opportunities, encouraging young entrepreneurs to use modern technologies and highlight opportunities at the global level.
Experts in marketing, innovation, policymakers, experts in start-up as well as experienced entrepreneurs in Ayurveda pharmaceuticals and hospital industry will guide and share their experiences with the participants.
Nearly 800 participants from across the country are expected to take part in the seminar.

1st WHO Global Conference on Air Pollution & Health held in Geneva
The first Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health will be held at WHO Headquarters in Geneva.
The conference responds to a World Health Assembly mandate to combat one of the world’s most significant causes of premature death, causing some 7 million deaths annually.

The National Seminar on Entrepreneurship and Business Development in Ayurveda was held in New Delhi. It was organised by Ministry of AYUSH.
The theme of 2018 Ayurveda Day was:  “Ayurveda for Public health”.

India participated in China’s 1st International Import Expo (CIIE) at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai
Chinese President Xi Jinping inaugurated CIIE. It is considered to be the world’s first import-themed national-level expo.
The Indian delegation was led by Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan.

Joining Moscow meeting on Afghanistan not under compulsion
Joining Moscow meeting was hosted by Russia. The representatives of the Afghan Taliban radical movement were present in the meeting. India sent two former diplomats to the meeting.
India supports all efforts at peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan that will preserve unity and plurality. In a bid to boost tourism, Thailand's cabinet has approved a measure to temporarily waive the visa-on-arrival fees for visitors from India and 20 other countries.

U.S. Vice President Pence to meet PM Modi
United States Vice President Mike Pence will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his four-nation trip next week, during which he will also attend the U.S.-ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit in Singapore.
Generally, the summit is attended by the U.S. President. However, this time, Mr. Pence will be representing the country at the request of President Donald Trump.
Mr. Pence will travel to Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Papua New Guinea between November 11 and 18, which will include the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in Papua New Guinea.

25th edition of SIMBEX, an acronym for “Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise” held in Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
The 2018 edition marks the Silver Jubilee of SIMBEX. The sea phase of this year’s edition is being conducted under the Command of Rear Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, NM, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.
SIMBEX 2018 will be the largest edition since 1994 in terms of scale and complexity.

Indian Army officials and Chinese PLA troops organized a high-level meeting at Bumla, near Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen friendship and maintain peace along the 4057-km-long Line of Actual Control separates India from China.
India was by led by Major General PGK Menon and the Chinese side had Major General Li Xi Zhong.
This was the first time major generals of the two countries took part in a border personnel meeting (BPM), since its initiation in 1990.
33rd ASEAN summit begins in Singapore

Prime Minister NarendraModi is scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit and Associated meetings of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) on 14thand 15th November in Singapore
In the biggest of its kind event more than 400 companies from over 100 countries are taking part as exhibitors.
Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong is the Chairman of the Summit, which will continue till 15th November along with other related Summits like East Asia Summit (EAS), Regional Comprehensive Economic Summit, (RCEP) and ASEAN Plus Summits.

6th Indian Social Work Congress (ISWC) was held in New Delhi.
Theme of 6th ISWC 2018 was “Human Development and Social Inclusion: Imperatives for Social Work Education and Practice”.
Late Dr. Martha Farrell was honoured with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for her lifelong work towards gender equality, women’s empowerment and prevention of sexual harassment at workplace.

2 day South Asian regional conference, was co-hosted by NITI Aayog, held in Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.

26th Conference of Central and States Statistical Organizations was held at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh.
The theme of this year’s Conference is “Quality Assurance in Official Statistics”.
It was inaugurated by Union Minister Vijay Goel along with Himachal Pradesh food, civil supplies and consumer affair minister Kishan Kapoor.

India-Taiwan SME Development Forum was held in Taipei, Taiwan.

2-day 9th Session of the India-Kyrgyz Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (IK-IGC) concluded in New Delhi.
The IK-IGC was co-chaired by Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu and Mr. Kosmosbek Cholponbaev, Minister of Health, Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kyrgyz proposed the creation of joint food and food processing ventures for agriculture and meat product for export to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) markets.
Both the parties decided to hold the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Indian inter-governmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry hosts, 2 days conference of Global Digital Content Market 2018 (GDCM 2018) in New Delhi.
It was the 2nd edition of the conference, 1st edition was held in Geneva in 2016. India has been chosen as the host nation for GDCM 2018 by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Asia Pacific region is the focus of this year’s conference.
India has improved its ranking by 24 places from that of 2015 and now ranks 57th in Global Innovation Index 2018.

 9th Annual Defence and Security Dialogue between India and China held in Beijing, China.

On specific defence exchanges for 2019,

The two-days 8th National Conference of Women in Police (NCWP) has held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The conference is being organized by Bureau of Police Research & Development in collaboration with Jharkhand Police.
It is the only national-level platform to address the issues of Women in uniform and create an enabling atmosphere for them to maximize and optimize their professional potential.

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2018 concluded in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
It was hosted by Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Peter O’Neill.
All 21 member countries of APEC participated in the Summit. It is the 1st such summit which in its 25-year history failed to agree on a formal joint statement.

Minister of State for Communication (I/C) and Railways Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurates the All India Heads of Police Communication Conference held in New Delhi.
The theme of the conference was “Modernization of Police Communication and challenges thereof.”
Directorate of Coordination Police Wireless (DCPW), Anand Swaroop was the organiser of the event.
The valedictory function will be addressed by Shri Santosh Gangwar, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Labour and Employment.

27th BASIC (Brazil, South Africa, India and China) Ministerial Meeting on Climate Change was held in New Delhi.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of India.
Ministers welcomed the 184 ratifications, till date, of the Paris Agreement adopted under the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).
Brazil will host the 28th BASIC Ministerial Meeting in 2019.
BASIC countries are bloc (geopolitical alliance) of four large newly industrialized countries – Brazil, South Africa, India and China. It was formed by agreement in November 2009. They were committed to act jointly at Copenhagen climate summit 2009.

26th meeting of the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) was held at Versailles (Paris), France.
The members have voted for the redefinition of 130 years old “Le grand K – the SI unit of kg” in terms of the fundamental Planck’s constant(h). The new definitions will come into force on 20 May 2019.
The definition of the kilogram has been changed from being the mass of prototype sanctioned by the 1st CGPM held in Paris in 1889 and deposited at the BIPM to the Planck constant which is a physical constant.
The definition of meter has been changed to link it to the speed of light. There is a change in the definition of time also.
CGPM: The CGPM is the highest international body of the world for accurate and precise measurements.
World Metrology Day - 20 May.
The CGPM meets in Paris, usually once every four years.

November 22

12th World Congress on Mountain Medicine held Kathmandu.
The theme of congress is “Mountain Medicine in the Heart of the Himalayas”.
The flagship event of the International Society for Mountain Medicine (ISMM) is being held first time in Nepal and hosted by Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal (MMSN).
The biennial event mainly focuses on science and research aspects of high altitude medicine. It will also include practical workshops related to trekking, expedition medicine and clinical education.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj co-chaired the 9th Meeting of India-Lao PDR Joint Commission on Bilateral Co-operation with her counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith in Vientiane, Capital of Laos.
The two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation covering areas of Defence, Development Partnership, Agriculture, Trade & Investment, Education & Culture, Science & IT, Energy & Mining, Transport and Natural Resources & Environment.
The Minister also called on the Prime Minister of Lao PDR Thongloun Sisoulith.

4th edition of Intex South Asia was inaugurated by Indian high commissioner to Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Intex South Asia is the largest international textile sourcing show in South Asia.
It was organized by Worldex India Exhibition and Promotion Pvt. Ltd in partnership with Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL), Retailers Association of India, Clothing Manufacturers Association of India, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) etc.

7th International Tourism Mart Inaugurated in Agartala.
The Governor of Tripura Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki inaugurated the '7th International Tourism Mart for the North-East States in the presence of Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism K.J Alphons and the Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb in Agartala, Tripura.
The Ministry of Tourism has organized the mart in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura and the North Eastern States.
The International Tourism Marts are organized every tear in the North Eastern States on rotation basis.

India, Singapore reaffirmed defence ties at 3rd India-Singapore Defence Ministers’ Dialogue held in Visakhapatnam.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Defence ministers of the 2 countries.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman reaffirmed deepening defence ties between India and Singapore.
Earlier to attending the DMD, the Singaporean minister Dr Ng Eng Hen attended the final phase of 25th Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise SIMBEX on board INS Shakti.
The 4th Defence Minister’s dialogue was announced to be held in Singapore in 2019.

International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) released the agenda to host the 4-day 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health in Hyderabad on 30 October – 2 November 2019.
The conference theme will be: “Ending the Emergency: Science, Leadership, Action”
The Indian government has committed to eliminate TB in India by 2025.
This year the conference held in The Hague,Netherlands.

Embassy of India in Nepal and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a 3-day exhibition of construction equipment and technology-ConMac 2018 in Bhaktapur near Kathmandu, Nepal.

The first-ever India Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue is being held at St. Petersburg in Russia.
The Indian side is being led by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar, with the Russian delegation headed by Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshk.
The participants will discuss the development of bilateral ties in trade, investment, technology and industry.
Transport, agriculture and agro-processing, Small and Medium Enterprises, digital transformation and frontier technologies and industrial cooperation are some of the key areas of focus.

November 26

21st round of India-China Special Representatives border talks concluded at Dujiangyan near southwest China’s Chengdu city.
This was held between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval from the Indian side and Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi from the Chinese side.
This was the first round of talks for Wang who earlier in 2018 succeeded State Councillor Yang Jiechi.

The 1st Sustainable Blue Economy Conference was held in Nairobi (Kenya).
This conference was organized by Kenya and co-hosted by Japan and Canada.
Theme of Sustainable Blue Economy Conference 2018 : The Blue Economy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Sustainable Blue Economy Conference was built on the momentum of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 2015 Climate Change Conference in Paris and the UN Ocean Conference 2017 ‘Call to Action.
From India Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari participated in the conference.

Saudi-India Business Meeting held in Riyadh to discuss trade and regional cooperation.
Saudi-India Business meeting was held in Riyadh with the Council of Saudi Chambers during the visit of the Indian Infrastructure & Housing delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Indian side was led by Manoj K Bharti, Additional Secretary, ED Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The meeting was aimed for business, trade and regional cooperation between the 2 countries.
India is one of the 8 countries on the preferred list of Saudi Arabia.

India to Chair Kimberley Process from 1st January 2019.
15th The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) Plenary 2018, was held in Brussels, Belgium.
EU handed over the Chairmanship of KPCS to India from 1st January, 2019.
On the concluding day of the Plenary, Ms. Federica Mogherini, High representative for Foreign Affairs and Security policy, Vice- President of the European Commission,in the closing ceremony, handed over KPCS Chairmanship to India by passing on the gavel to Commerce Secretary, Dr. AnupWadhawan.
The next Intersessional session is slated to be held in India as Chair. Botswana and the Russian Federation will serve as Vice-Chair during the period of 2019-2020.
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS):
It is the process established in 2000 to prevent "conflict diamonds" from entering the mainstream rough diamond market by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 55/56 following recommendations in the Fowler Report.

President Of India Inaugurates The 2nd International Ambedkar Conclave.
The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the 2nd International Ambedkar Conclave in New Delhi as part of the commemoration of Constitution Day.
The Conclave is being organized by the Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians and the Dr. Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce.

Second India-UAE strategic conclave held in Abu Dhabi.
Second edition of India-UAE Strategic Conclave organized by Economic Times, India was held in the Capital of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi.
Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Mr. Navdeep Suri inaugurated the conclave.
Key Business leaders and senior government officials lay down the blueprint to improve Economic cooperation between the two countries and explore the opportunities to enhance trade.
