Gujarat government partners with US advocacy group for 'Vibrant Gujarat' summit
The Gujarat Government has partnered with a top India-centric American advocacy group for the Vibrant Gujarat summit in January 2019, which is expected to be attended by some of the top American corporate leaders.
John Chambers, chairman of US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF), will lead a high-level CEO delegation to the summit next year.
Ahead of the summit, the USISPF will take out roadshows in the five cities of San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, New York and Washington DC.
A senior-level delegation, led by Arvind Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, government of Gujarat, will visit the US in September to engage with a host of businesses, investors, start-ups and incubators, thought leaders and key members of the Indian diaspora.

7th Meeting of National Medicinal Plants Board Held at New Delhi
The Seventh meeting of National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) of Ministry of AYUSH was held under the chairpersonship of Minister of State for AYUSH, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik at New Delhi.
The Board meeting considered various Agenda Items placed before it for consideration. The Board also reviewed the achievements in the various sectors like cultivation, conservation, IEC, R&D etc. It was decided to have wider consultation in respective states for bringing the State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB) under the AYUSH Umbrella and also the programme mode implementation of the activities related to the cultivation marketing initiatives etc.

Shripad Naik inaugurates International Ayurveda Congress at Netherlands
Union Minister Shripad Naik inaugurated the fourth International Ayurveda Congress, IAvC in the Netherlands aimed at promotion and propagation of Ayurveda.
After inaugurating the IAvC at Leiden in the Netherlands, the Minister of state for AYUSH integration of ayurveda, yoga and other Ayush systems in the delivery of health services is one of the thrust areas of the Indian government. insurance coverage has been extended to Ayush treatments and 27 companies are offering 140 health policies to beneficiaries in India.
The Minister is on a four-day visit to the Netherlands, leading a delegation comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush including the Pharmacopoeia Commission of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy. The intention of the government is to bring convergence and synergy between traditional medicine, modern medicine and modern sciences for scientific validation of ayurveda concepts and development of research and development based drugs.

USIBC to hold its first India Idea Summit in Mumbai
The US-India Business Council (USIBC), a top American business advocacy group, to showcase the positive impact of the US-India relationship and focus on future opportunities for companies in the two nations.
The two-day conference beginning September will be inaugurated by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu will deliver the key note address.
The summit is being held on the eve of the maiden 2+2 India-US dialogue in New Delhi.
This is for the first time that US India Business Council (USIBC) is holding its annual general body meeting in India.
India Ideas Summit is an effort by USIBC and by the US Chambers of Commerce to showcase (not only) how important the India relationship and the economic partnership is, but also to showcase how businesses, Indian and American are really driving impact and are contributing in both countries.

Bi-annual talks between Indian, Bangladeshi border forces begin
The bi-annual talks between Indian and Bangladeshi border forces began in New Delhi.
Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) KK Sharma is representing the Indian side while Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Md Shafeenul Islam is leading Bangladesh in the six days talks.
The meeting is aimed at increasing bilateral cooperation in checking trans-border crimes such as smuggling of drugs and narcotics, cattle lifting and gun running across the international border between the two countries.
This is the 47th DG-level conference between the two sides since it began in 1975. Joint efforts for effective implementation of Comprehensive Border Management Plan, Confidence Building Measures, Simultaneous Coordinated patrolling,
Sharing of Information, expansion of crime-free zones will be on the agenda during the talks. A joint record of discussion will also be signed between the BSF and BGB.

International Aviation Summit begins in Delhi
The International Aviation Summit began in New Delhi, India. The seminar has been jointly organised by the Airports Authority of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation and International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu revealed that the Civil Aviation Ministry is coming up with Vision 2035 under which it plans to build 100 new airports across India in the next 10-15 years with an investment of USD 60 billion and address the major issues concerning aviation industry such as airport infrastructure, taxation and use of technology.
The airports will be constructed through a public-private partnership. India's economy is poised to grow to USD 10 trillion by 2035 and aviation sector will be one of the major contributors to that growth.

Tsunami mock drill ‘IOWave18’ begins: India along with 23 countries participates in exercise
Indian Ocean Wave Exercise 2018 (IOWave18) began in the Indian Ocean. India along with 23 other nations is participating in this major Indian ocean-wide tsunami mock drill which involves evacuation of thousands of people from coastal areas in over half a dozen coastal states.
This tsunami warning exercise is being organised by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO. It was the IOC that coordinated the setting up of the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (IOTWMS) in the aftermath of December 2004 tsunami.
Besides testing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and communication links at all levels of the warning chain, a primary objective of IOWave18 exercise is to enhance tsunami preparedness at community level.
The purpose of exercise is to increase tsunami preparedness, evaluate response capabilities in each state and improve coordination throughout the region.

India focus country in Izmir International Trade Show
The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) led a75-member Indian delegation for the ongoing 87th Izmir International Trade Show in Turkey. The delegation had several B2B meetings and business tie-ups with members of the Turkish business community. India is the Focus Country in the trade show with a standalone pavilion named ‘Source India’. The India Pavilion is a multi-product pavilion, including companies displaying products like ceramics, cereals and mechanical appliances.
The ‘Source India’ Pavilion was inaugurated by Sanjay Bhattacharyya, India’s Ambassador to Ankara, Turkey. Bilateral trade between the two countries was $7 billion in 2017, an increase of 8% over the previous year. The collaborations may range from farming technology, high yielding varieties, farm machinery, food processing and cold storage.
A business collaboration has been worked out by TPCI and BIM, a Turkish supermarket chain, having 6500 stores in Turkey, 600 in Morocco and 400 in Egypt. BIM is looking to open a store in India as well. Another similar partnership agreement has been worked out with MIGROS, owners of Ram stores, a prominent brand in Kazakhstan and Macedonia.

Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot leaves for Seoul (Korea) to attend the 3rd ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Conference on ‘Global Ageing and Human Rights of Older Persons’
Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment left for Seoul (Korea). He is heading a 3-member Indian Delegation to attend the 3rd ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Conference on ‘Global Ageing and Human Rights of Older Persons’ jointly organised in Seoul by the Republic of Korea and the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
The 3-day Conference will reaffirm the universal value of the human rights of older persons, share information on discrimination against the elderly and exemplary cases of long-term and palliative care in Asia and Europe, and also discuss operation and tasks of the ASEM Global Ageing Centre as an implementing institution for mutual cooperation among ASEM members for the protection and promotion of the human rights of older persons.
The Conference will be attended by International Institutions including the United Nations, Regional Institutions such as UNESCAP, UNECE, European Union, ASEAN, GANHRI and also International NGOs, Experts etc. The experience gained from the Conference will be beneficial for Policy formulation and implementation for welfare of senior citizens.

Conference on E-Mobility in Indian Railways held in New Delhi
The main aim is to discuss strategies for future of mobility in India and to make Indian Railways more efficient, greener and a preferred mode of transport. It acted as a common platform for project developers and other stakeholders.
Minister of State for Railways, Manoj Sinha was the chief guest of the conference.
Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain, was the Guest of Honour.

International Women Entrepreneurs Summit 2018 held in Kathmandu
Global Gals Business people Summit 2018 was held in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. The summit was inaugurated by Vice President of Nepal Nanda Bahadur Pun. The concept of 3-working day summit was “Equality begins with Financial Empowerment”. It was organised by the South Asian Women Improvement Discussion board.
The major objective of the summit was to convey together achievers, women of all ages business leaders, pros, international company companies, resource organizations, specialists, government representatives and other stakeholders with a target on revolutionary financial transformation via discussions and collaborations. MOVE: India’s First Global Mobility Summit 2018 to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate MOVE: India’s ever first Global Mobility Summit organized by NITI Aayog at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital. The focus of the summit is on raising awareness about various aspects of Mobility and bringing various stakeholders involved in enhancing mobility across different platforms. Representative from various Intergovernmental Organizations, Academia, Policy Think tanks from India and abroad, Global leaders from across the mobility sector such as OEMs, Battery Manufacturers, Charging Infrastructure Providers, technology Solution Providers will be sharing their views on enhancing mobility over the next two days during the summit.
The Global Mobility Summit is the first of its kind, with over 2200 participants expected from across the world including leaders from the government, industry, research organizations, academia, think tanks and civil society. Components of the Summit include: the core conclave, digital exhibition, Mobility Week with Featured Events and a variety of stakeholder consultations.

6th edition of Bengaluru Space Expo inaugurated
The 6th edition of the biennial Bengaluru Space Expo was inaugurated by ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Sivan in Bengaluru.
The three day event will showcase industry participation in Indian space programme.
ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Sivan informed that the Indian Space Research Organisation wants to offer manufacturing of PSLV and small satellite launch vehicles along with small satellites to private industries.
A sum of 10,400 crore rupees is earmarked for manufacturing of PSLV launch vehicle out of which 9000 crore rupees worth production will be given to private industries.

Home Minister inaugurates Defence & Homeland Security Expo and Conference, 2018
The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has called upon the law enforcement agencies to adopt new technologies to enhance their capacities to contain terror and to counter the emerging challenges to homeland security.
India has been facing security and terrorism-related challenges for years and there are multiple vulnerable areas that are prone to various risks. The Union Home Minister was inaugurating the 3-day Defence & Homeland Security Expo and Conference – 2018, organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The Government will soon implement the new Drone Policy which was announced recently, containing comprehensive regulations on the use of drones. The drones are being increasingly inducted into the Indian security establishment to monitor sensitive and vulnerable areas prone to security risks including thick and dense jungles in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas in which physical monitoring is extremely difficult.

Ministry of Railways organises seminar on ‘Leveraging IT for Mobility’
Ministry of Railways & Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) organised a seminar on “Leveraging IT for Mobility”. Minister of Railways & Coal, Shri Piyush Goyal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Goyal also launched a new app – “AAPOORTI’ mobile App of ‘Indian Railways e-procurement system’.
The seminar had 4 sessions on: Moblity for passenger Business; continuous Cargo Visibility: Network Optimisation; Internet of Thinks (IoT) and mobile Data in Maintenance, Repair and Operations.
Apart from computers and information processing systems, communication networks play a crucial role in leveraging IT for mobility. Efficient communication networks can be designed using latest technologies, to provide reliable high-bandwidth channels for fixed and moving devices.

Global Sanitation Convention to Herald 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation will organize a global sanitation convention to mark the beginning of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, also coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission.
Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention (MGISC) will be a 4-day international conference that will bring together Sanitation Minsters and other leaders in WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) from around the world.
A host of national and international dignitaries are slated to attend the event, for which preparations are under way. The Convention will culminate on 2nd October, Gandhi Jayanti, which is also celebrated as the Swachh Bharat Diwas. Several mass mobilisation events and campaigns are being planned across the States in the run up to this Day.
India aims to eliminate open defecation by October 2nd, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who held sanitation very close to his heart. Simultaneously, coordinated efforts are in place to improve sanitation levels in all sectors and all public places. The global Convention will be aimed at sharing sanitation success stories and lessons across all participating countries.

4th Annual Sustainable Smart Cities India Summit 2018
The 4th Annual Sustainable Smart Cities India Conference was successfully launched at the Sterlings Mac Hotel, Bengaluru. The event was officially supported by Smart City Mission, Government of India, Swachh Bharat, Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation and City Manager Association Karnataka.
The two-day premier high-profile conference was organised by Nispana to bring together key stakeholders, central and state government officials and decision makers from across diverse sector. The event intended to discuss activities, reforms, development and barriers taking place in the Smart Cities India projects. The summit also focused on sharing best practices and collaboration of technology, products and services for the empowerment of urban development.

Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurates the 6th International Geriatric Orthopaedic Conference
The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 6th International Geriatric Orthopaedic Society of India Conference on the theme “Increased Longevity with Reduced Fragility and Enhanced Mobility”, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
The Minister hailed the Ayushman Bharat Health Protection Scheme announced by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the benefit of the rural and poor people. Under this scheme the Government will provide affordable healthcare with universal health insurance to poor and needy people and their families, specially the elderly.
The increasing health problems faced by the elderly due to disintegration of the joint family culture in the country, this scheme would take care of the health problems of such ageing people. Preserve the joint family culture as the old people also need emotional care in addition to the physical care.

India, US hold 2+2 dialogue concluded in New Delhi
Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Defence Nirmala Sitharaman welcomed Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo and Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis to India for the inaugural India-U.S. Ministerial 2+2 Dialogue. The next 2+2 meeting is to be held in the United States in 2019. Its objective is strengthening the Defense and Security Partnership.

Union Minister for HRD Shri Prakash Javadekar Inaugurates 4th World Summit on Accreditation (WOSA-2018) at New Delhi. ‘Ratings and Rankings’ both the quality hallmark for any educational institutions therefore accreditation becomes very important.
The focus of WOSA 2018 is on “challenges and opportunities in outcome based accreditation”.

Two Day Regional Conference on Good Governance with Focus on Aspirational Districts begins in Bhopal.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DAR&PG), Government of India in association with Government of Madhya Pradesh is organizing a Regional Conference on Good Governance with Focus on Aspirational Districts, begin in Bhopal. Delegates from 12 States and 2 UTs will participate in the Conference. There will be 5 Technical sessions in the 2-day conference.
13 Presentations will be made in 4 sessions which will be followed by Panel Discussions. The themes include: ICT Enabled Education, Agriculture, Public Service and Grievance Management and Good Governance initiatives.

ASEAN World Economic Forum begins in Vietnam
The World Economic Forum for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) began amid the ban of two human rights activists by Vietnamese authorities.
Amnesty International statement that Vietnam refused entry to its senior director of global operations, Minar Pimple, who was to due to speak on diversity and pluralism, reports Efe news.
Amnesty's Secretary General Kumi Naidoo condemned the decision it comes at a time where freedom of expression is under a threat in Vietnam.

Dubai to host India-UAE Partnership Summit
A two-day India-UAE Partnership Summit (IUPS) will be held in Dubai from October 30.

Rajasthan government held a two-day convention on ‘Revitalising India as a Heritage Destination’ to focus on preserving heritage properties in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
To promote heritage tourism and preserve heritage:
It was organized by Indian Heritage Hotels Association.
Rajendra Singh Pachar was the convention chairman.
It will also promote ‘battlefield tourism’, which aims to recreate the grand battles of Rajasthan.

. G-20 Trade And Investment Ministerial Meeting Held in Argentina
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, will participate in the G-20, Trade and Investment Ministerial Meeting, being held in Mar del Plata in Argentina on 14th - 15th September 2018. The meeting will provide an opportunity for a dialogue on current developments in international trade and its implications for the global economy. The Ministerial Meeting will discuss about building an inclusive trade system that contributes to sustainable and shared growth. Trade and investment must benefit all and countries must jointly address both the opportunities and challenges of globalization, innovation and technological advancements. The Ministerial Meeting will examine the inter relationship between trade and development with a special emphasis on the need to promote further integration of small and medium sized companies into international trade, and the opportunities posed by the digital economy and new technologies.

A bilateral meeting on Tourism Cooperation between India and Morocco led by the Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicraft and Social Economy, Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Mohamed Sajid and the Minister of State for Tourism (IC), Government of India, Shri. K.J. Alphons, held in New Delhi
This meeting was followed by signing of an agreement of cooperation between the India Tourism Development Corporation and La Societe Marocaine D’Ingenierie Touristique, also known as Moroccan Agency for Tourism development (SMIT).

Home Minister chaired a meeting of central Zonal Council held in Lucknow, UP
Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting of 21st Central Zonal Council in Lucknow.
The Council discussed various issues including road transport, Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojna, measures to tackle Naxal violence, modernization of Police, infrastructure development of airports, minimum support price, National health mission and issues related to primary schools.

Manoj Sinha, communications minister inaugurated seminar on FDI at New Delhi
Minister of State for Communications (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Railways, Shri Manoj Sinha presided over the Inaugural Session of the one-day seminar on “FDI in Telecom Sector: The Way Ahead” at New Delhi. The seminar was well attended by representatives from various Ministries/ Departments, regulatory bodies, industry, academia etc.
Shri Sinha also released a publication titled “Telecom Sector Growth & FDI: A Way Ahead”, which is a compilation put together by FIPP Wing of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) together with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). The compendium aims at providing relevant information relating to the FDI policy and the telecommunications sector in India at one place to facilitate the stakeholders.
The seminar included technical sessions and a panel discussion, which sensitized the various stakeholders of the Telecom sector, particularly those from the industry, on the various steps taken by the government to attract investment and ease the process of FDI approvals in the sector.

7th National Conference on Excellence in Workplace Safety and Occupational Health in New Delhi
The 7th edition of FICCI Safety Systems Excellence Awards for Industry was launched in June 2018. The awards and conference cover key industry sectors like Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Mining, Power and Construction.
Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Labour and Employment has inaugurated the conference and present the awards.
The conference theme is “Excellence in Workplace Safety & Occupational Health”. The conference would witness rich deliberations on subjects like Best Practices in Workplace Safety, Importance of Lighting in Workplace Safety, Occupational Health and Working Conditions, Risk Assessment Strategies for Accident Prevention among others. Each session would be offering a perspective from different sectors (Automotive, Construction, Mining, FMCG and Power, to name a few).

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates a national literary and intellectual conference- "Lok Manthan 2018" at Khel Gaon in Ranchi.
This four-day event is being organised by Department of Culture of Jharkhand Government in association with a NGO to have discussions on present social and cultural issues facing the country.

Indo-Bangla border conference held in Aizawl, Mizoram
A joint border conference was held between India and Bangladesh at Aizawl and delegates from both sides deliberated on the border issues between the two countries.
Brigadier General Zakir Ahmed, the Surveyor General of Bangladesh media persons that a discussion was held regarding the demarcation of border between the two countries along Mizoram.
The Indian delegation was headed by Survey of India Director Sanjay Kumar.

Kalahandi has undergone transformation from an example of poverty and hunger to a surplus agri-producer.

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Conference on Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence in Vigyan Bhawan. The conference was organized jointly by UGC, AICTE, ICSSR, IGNCA, IGNOU, JNU and SGT University.
The Prime Minister recalled Swami Vivekananda’s emphasis on self-reliance, character building, and human values, as elements of education.
