July 31

31th July is the birth anniversary of a great novelist and celebrated storyteller Munshi Premchand. He was born on 31st July 1880 in Lamhi Village near Varanasi. His stories confront the truth of this society underlining the importance of truth, justice and loyalty. He has voiced various social issues including poverty and exploitation. His stories 'Kafan', 'Namak Ka Daroga', 'Panch Parmeshwar', 'Poos Ki Raat', 'Budhi Kaki', 'Idgah' and novels 'Godan', 'Seva Sadan', 'Rangbhoomi' are timeless and ever relevant.

July 30

United Nations (UN) observed World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30 to raise awareness of the plight of human trafficking victims, and promote and protect their rights. The theme for this year was ‘Human Trafficking: Call Your Government To Action’.

July 29

Every year across the world 29th July is celebrated as Global Tiger Day to create awareness about tiger conservation and protection of natural habitat of tigers. In India All India Tiger Estimation is conducts in every 4 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018. According to this report, the tiger population in India has grown from 1,400 in 2014 to 2,977 in 2019.

July 28

The World Hepatitis Day (WHD) is observed every year on 28th of July as it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus. It is observed to raise awareness about the disease which causes inflammation of the liver and claims around 1.4 million lives every year. The host country for WHD 2019 is Pakistan and the theme for this year is “Invest in eliminating hepatitis“.

July 24

Income Tax (IT) was introduced for 1st time in India by Sir James Wilson on 24 July in 1860, to compensate for losses incurred by British regime during First War of Independence (also known as Revolt of 1857) against British Rule. This year Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and all field offices observed and celebrated 159th Income Tax Day also known as Aaykar Diwas.

National broadcasting Day is observed every year on 23 July across India. It is on 23 July in 1927, the 1st ever radio broadcast in country went on the air from Bombay Station under a private company called the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC). Thereby since 1927 radio has been an important part in people’s life in India.

The World Brain Day observed every year on July 22. This year, World Brain Day is dedicated to raising awareness for the most common brain disease in the world - migraine. It is a chronic condition, affects one in seven people, and together with other headache disorders, it is considered to be one of the leading causes of disability worldwide.

July 6

The International Co-operative Day (ICD) is an annual celebration of the co-operative movement observed on the first Saturday in July since 1923 by the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA). The 2019 International Day of Cooperatives was celebrated on 6 July 2019. The ICA is an independent, non-governmental association which brings together, represents and serves cooperative organisations all over the world. Founded in London in 1895, its 310 members are national and international cooperative organisations from all sectors of activity and from 109 countries. Together, these cooperatives represent approximately 1.200 million individuals worldwide and 3 million cooperatives.

Co-operatives contribute to sustainable economic growth and stable, quality employment, employing 280 million people across the globe, in other words 10% of the world’s employed population. The ICA, since 1923, and the United Nations, since 1995, celebrate the first Saturday of July the International Day of Cooperatives to raise awareness of the importance of cooperatives and strengthen the cooperative movement. The theme of 2019 is 'Cooperatives for decent work'.

People of the USA celebrate American Independence Day on July 4 every year. Because they think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.
