AIBA set to introduce ‘protest system’ at 2019 men’s world championships.
The International Boxing Association (AIBA) announced that it will introduce a “Protest System” for coaches and boxers in next year’s Men World Championship to be held in Moscow, Russia which will also acts as a qualifier for 2020 Olympic Games.
The proposed new system for boxers and coaches has been tested at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires and recently concluded Women’s World Championship in Delhi.
AIBA World Boxing Championships:
AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships and the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships are biennial amateur boxing competitions organised by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), which is the sport governing body.
The championship was first held in 1974 Havana, Cuba as a men's only event and the first women's championships was held over 25 years later in 2001.

Wrestling Federation of India rolls out contracts system for wrestlers.
The announcement was made by WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The contracts will be reviewed after one year.
The wrestlers have been placed in four Grades. Grade A offers 30 lakh rupees and includes Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat along with Pooja Dhanda.
Grade B contract offers 20 lakh rupees and includes two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar and Rio Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik.
The C category offers 10 lakh rupees and features, among others, Sandeep Tomar, Sajan Bhanwal, Ritu Phogat, and Asian Games bronze medallist Divya Kakran.
The D category gives 5 lakh rupees support and includes Rahul Aware, Naveen, Sachin Rathi, and Anshu Malik.
WFI is the only Indian Olympic Association-affiliated National Sports Federation to offer contracts to its athletes and only the second after the BCCI.
AIFF to launch a school-level project with FIFA.
According to AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das, The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will launch a school-level project by March-April 2019 in association with the game's world governing body FIFA.
Under this programme, the AIFF touched about 15 thousand schools across the country.

Minjee Lee becomes first woman to win Australia's Greg Norman Medal.
22 Years old Australian Golfer, Minjee Lee became the first woman to win prestigious Greg Norman Medal as the best Australian golfer on the international stage after her brilliant performance in 2018.
Minjee Lee who breaks into the Top 10 of the world ranking with the sixth rank joined the Jason Day and Marc Leishman in the list of winners of Australian golf’s prestigious individual honour.

Dekebe Tafa and Degefa Gezmu both from Ethiopia are winners of the men’s and women’s half marathon.

Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik Win Gold At Wrestling Nationals.
Indian star wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik successfully emerged champions in the 57 kg and 62 kg title respectively in the Tata Motors Senior Women's National Championship.
Vinesh Phogat bagged her sixth National title. She had earlier won five Nationals in a row from 2012 to 2016. 
The event was hosted by Uttar Pradesh.

Ullas Narayan Wins India's 1st International Medal in Ultra Running.
Ullas Narayan became the first Indian individual medal winner in an international ultra running event by winning bronze in the 2018 International Association of Ultra Running (IAU) 24 Hour Asia & Oceania Championships in Taipei, Taiwan.
Ullas Narayan secured third position as he completed 250 km. He finished behind Japanese runners Yoshihiko Ishikawa (253 km) and Nobuyuki Takahashi (252 km).

The ninth edition of ‘Admirals Cup’ Sailing Regatta (2018) concluded with a glittering closing ceremony at Ettikulam Beach at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.

Budapest to host 2023 IAAF World Championships
Budapest will host the 2023 athletics world championships
The new stadium will be built on the eastern bank of the River Danube with a capacity of 40,000 for the championships, reduced to 15,000 for future events.
Budapest has twice hosted the IAAF world indoor championships and the European athletics championships.
The 2019 world championships will be held in Doha, Qatar, and the 2021 edition in Eugene, Oregon.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Indian whisky brand Royal Stag as an official sponsor in a five-year deal.

ICC orders PCB to pay 60% of BCCI's legal cost in failed compensation case
The International Cricket Council (ICC) ordered the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to pay 60 per cent of the costs incurred by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and an ICC panel during the two boards legal wrangle over a bilateral series agreement.
Earlier, the ICC rejected Pakistan Cricket Board PCB’s Compensation claim which blamed India for lack of bilateral series between the two nations.
The BCCI has been asked to pay 40% of the administrative costs and expenses of the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC).

Five weightlifters banned after 2012 Olympic tests reanalyzed
Five weightlifters, including two Olympic champions, have been provisionally suspended after reanalysis of urine samples provided during the 2012 London Olympics.
The Weightlifters who are banned are Ukrainian Oleksiy Torokhtiy, Uzbek Ruslan Nurudinov both where the participants of 105 kg Category, Valentin Hristov of Azerbaijan who participated in 56 Kg Category, Armenia’s Meline Daluzyan and Belarusian Mikalai Novikau.
Only Torokhtiy stands to lose his title, as the samples retested were given four years before Nurudinov’s gold-medal winning performance in Brazil.

American Mikaela Shiffrin became the youngest woman to win 50 World Cup ski races with victory in the slalom in the French Alps.

Golfer Jyoti Randhawa arrested on charge of poaching in U.P's Bahraich district
A vehicle, a weapon and other equipment along with wildlife articles were seized from Randhawa.

Saudi Arabia is hosting a world chess tournament for the first time, nearly two years after the country’s top cleric issued a religious edict against playing the board game.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting inducted into ICC Hall of Fame
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting became the 25th Australian cricketer to be officially inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
A three-time World Cup winner (including two World Cups as captain in 2003 and 2007), Ponting received his commemorative cap during the tea break on Day-1 of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at MCG.

Saurabh Chaudhary sweeps men’s 10m air pistol trials in both senior and junior categories
Asian Games and Youth Olympic Games champion Saurabh Chaudhary swept the 10m air pistol trials at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range by winning the second trial competitions in both the men’s and junior boy’s categories.
Earlier, Saurabh had won the first trial in both events as well and in one final shooting event way above the existing world record score.
In the junior boy’s final, Saurabh went higher than his junior world record score to shoot 246, pushing Army’s Deepak Dhariwal to second spot with a score of 241.2.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has become the highest wicket-taker in international cricket in 2018 after picking up 9 wickets in the Melbourne Test against Australia.
The 25-year-old has taken 78 wickets this year, overtaking South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada, who has taken 77 wickets.
Bumrah took 48 wickets in Tests, 22 in ODIs and 8 in T20Is in 2018.

Third edition of women’s national boxing championships begins in Vijayanagara, Karnataka
Country’s top boxers will be vying for top honors as the tournament will be held at the JSW Sports-owned Inspire Institute of Sport.
World Championship silver and bronze medallists boxers, Sonia Chahal, Lovlina Borgohain, Pinky Jangra and Nikhat Zarin will be trying to upstage one another in the race to claim the top honors.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) had hosted a pre-Asian Games conditioning camp for its elite men and women's teams before the Asian Games and this will be the first time a national event of this magnitude will be held at this facility.

Sports Ministry embarks Rs 100 crore for funding athletes under TOPS (Target Olympic Podium Scheme): DGSAI (Director General of Sports Authority of India)
The scheme was launched in September 2014 to provide financial assistance to potential Olympic medal winners.
Under the scheme, the athletes were also given financial assistance to prepare for Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
The flagship scheme of the government will also nurture future sporting talent by supporting a group of athletes who are potential medal winner in 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games.
