July 28

Ellyse Perry -Australian all-rounder has become the first cricketer to reach the rare milestone of scoring 1000 runs and taking 100 wickets in T20 international cricket. She achieved the feat run in the multi-format 2019 Ashes series where Australia beat England by 7 wickets in Hove.

Simranjit Kaur in 60kg category grabbed gold in 23rd President's Cup Boxing Tournament in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Simranjit Kaur defeated Indonesia's Asian Games bronze medalist Hasanah Huswatun 5-0 in the final bout.

July 23

Virat Kohli has retained his number one position in the latest ICC Test batsmen's rankings. In the team rankings, India remain in the first place followed by New Zealand (2) and South Africa (3) with England (4) and Australia (5) rounding up the top five. In the bowlers' list, two Indians feature in the top 10 with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin holding the sixth and 10th spot respectively.

July 22

In Table Tennis, Harmeet Desai and Ayhika Mukherjee won the men's and women's singles titles as hosts India completed a clean sweep, claiming all the seven gold medals on offer at the 21st Commonwealth Championships in Cuttack. Indian paddlers topped the medals tally with seven gold medals, five silver medals and three bronze medals.

July 20

Indian sprinter Hima Das won a gold medal in the 400-meter race with a season-best time of 52.09 seconds at Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic. It was Hima's fifth gold medal since July 2. At the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on July 2, Hima won her first gold medal in 200m race. She won her second 200 m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet which was held in Poland on July 7. On July 13 Hima won third 200 m gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet in Czech Republic. Her fourth gold came at the Tabor Athletics Meet in the same country on 17 July.

July 19

Prithu Gupta from Delhi has become the India’s 64th Grandmaster as he crossed the 2500-mark.The 15 year old Prithu Gupta beat IM Lev Yankelevich in the fifth round of the Portuguese League 2019. Gupta has joined an elite list, 31 years after Viswanathan Anand became India’s first Grandmaster.

July 18

Jerlin Anika, a girl from Tamil Nadu, has won gold at the 2019 World Deaf Youth Badminton Championships in Taipei, Taiwan. She also bagged two silver and one bronze medal in the championship in the Under-18 category. She is just 15 years old and a student of class 10 in a government school in Madurai.

July 15

The 2019 which will be the 129th edition of Durand Cup, the matches will be played across three locations in stadiums from 2nd August 2019. This is the first time the tournament will be played outside New Delhi, which is its traditional venue. Army Green is the defending champion. The Durand Cup is the Asia’s oldest football tournament and third oldest football tournament in the world.

July 9

Dutee Chand won the gold medal in the women’s 100-metre sprint at the 30th Summer University Games in Napoli, Italy clocking a time of 11.32 seconds. She gets India’s first gold medal at this edition of the meet. This is also the first time an Indian has won a senior 100-metre gold at a global event. No Indian had qualified for the 100-metre final in the history of the University Games till now.

Former world champion  Mirabai Chanu led the Indian medal rush by notching up a gold on the opening day of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship which was held in Apia (Samoa).

July 8

Hima Das claimed her second international gold in women's 200m with a top finish at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland. Hima clocked 23.97 seconds to clinch the gold while VK Vismaya bagged the silver in 24.06. This was Hima’s second competitive 200m race of the year. She has a personal best of 23.10s, which she clocked last year. National record holder Muhammed Anas also won the gold in men’s 200m race with a time of 21.18 seconds.

Mexico’s men’s’ soccer team won 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup by defeating United States men with 1-0 in the final. This is Mexico’s record 8th Gold Cup title. Mexico’s Jonathan dos Santos scored only goal to win CONCACAF Gold Cup with 1-0. It is the international men’s football championship of North, Central American, and Caribbean region organized by CONCACAF. It was founded in 1963 and is a biennial event i.e. held every two years.

July 7

Brazil defeated Peru with 3-1 to win this year’s Copa America football trophy. This is Brazil’s 9th Copa America title after a gap of 12 years since 2007. It is an international men’s association football championship and is organized by South America’s football ruling body CONMEBOL. It was 46th edition of Copa América which was held in Brazil (4 June - 7 July) at 6 venues across the country. Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison scored a goal each for Brazil. Brazil has won the title every time they hosted the tournament and this is its 5th title.

The United States of America (USA) won FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 title after beating Netherlands in final at Lyon, France. The victory underlines USA’s status in international women’s football as they claim World Cup title for 4th time earlier 1991, 1999 and 2015, 8 editions in all. Megan Rapinoe won the Golden Boot and she also took Golden Ball award for best player of tournament. 

July 6

Indian track and field athletes won six medals, including three gold medals, on the first day of the Qasanov Memorial Meet at Almaty in Kazakhstan.  Mohammed Afsal won the men's 800m gold, Gagandeep Singh also won gold in men's discus throw. Senthil Kumar Mithravarun took the silver. In women's hammer throw, Jyoti Jakhar Ran bagged silver and Anita got bronze.

July 4

Afghanistan Wicket-keeper batsman, Ikram Alikhil achieved a rare feat as he scored 86 off 92 balls in Afghanistan’s final league match against West Indies in Leeds. By this score, Ikram beaten Sachin Tendulkar's record of 84 against in the 1992 World Cup as a teenager.

In the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix which is held in Poland, Indian sprinter Hima Das won 200 m gold, shot putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor bagged a bronze. Hima is the world junior champion and national record holder in 400 m.

July 2

The 34th edition of Hyderabad Sailing Week National Ranking Multi-Class Championship 2019 was inaugurated (July 2 – 7) by Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan in Hyderabad. The YAI Multi-Class (Ranking) Sailing Championship is one of the oldest sailing competitions in India. It is held every year in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad at Hussain Sagar Lake as the wind conditions in city are most favorable to hone sailor’s skills in yacht handling and understanding wind shifts.

July 1

The Odisha is set to host the 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship which is scheduled to be held at the Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, which is scheduled for July 17 – 22. The government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with state's table tennis body and Table Tennis Federation of India (TTF).
