Immigration Updates - Australia
AUSTRALIA NEW FIVE YEARS PARENTS VISA
Here comes good news for everyone who wishes to bring their parents to Australia. Most of the people were upset considering the waiting time for the Parent Visa which ranged from 12 to 15 years. Now their wait comes to an end as Australian Immigration have decided to provide with five year visas for families of migrants in a bid to reduce decade long waiting list seeking permanent residency.
Assistant Minister for Immigration Alex Hawke said on Saturday at the launch of the new visa, that this move was made after government came to know about the frustrations surrounding the current Parents visa program. Mr. Hawk also said, “We want to help families reunite and spend time together, while ensuring that we do so in the way that does not burden Australia’s healthcare system.”
Australia’s Productive Commission report last week found that overall cost for Australian government’s health care, welfare and other social benefits will be around $2.5 billion to host migrant’s parents. This is the major reason for Australia immigration to introduce this visa, as families or the migrants will be required to contribute to the cost of visa and other benefits.
Australia government is yet to decide on the cost for this new five year parent visa. This visa is expected to come into implementation from July 1st 2017.
