This article is restricted to Osmania University Area and JNTU, Hyderabad only, However the guidelines are common.
Next Question is which college to opt and what are the criteria to be adopted while considering web options.
This article is aimed to address the parents and students to clarify their doubts.
The Osmania University, Hyderabad affiliated colleges offer M.B.A course with specialization in Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Systems. A student can opt for dual specialization wherein he studies 4 papers in Major specialization and 2 papers in Minor in 3rd and 4th semesters.
Advantages:
The students get exposure in two specialized areas and the scope of employment becomes flexible, However the core papers in all the Universities are by and large same.
Disadvantages:
The Student cannot expect the deeper knowledge in the specialized area as he is studying two specializations. For Example: An MBA (Finance) student however specialist he will have limitation in comparison with a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Accountancy Area. It is also depends on the Intelligence, Hard work of the student and Institution where he studies.
It is the student’s interest in acquiring theoretical knowledge while at college and application of theory in real-time employment is the guiding principle.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad introduced new syllabus for MBA students from 2013 batch in which they opt for any one of the specializations like Marketing or Finance or Human Recourses or Systems electives
Advantages:
JNTUH offers 6 papers in specialization area where as O.U offers dual specialization but in all only 6 papers (4 Major & 2 Minor) in 3rd and 4th Semesters.

Disadvantages:
The flexibility in getting employment in either of the 2 specialized areas is limited to only one area. However a distinction student can overcome this barrier by opting Job initially in his specialized field and move to general management after getting experience.
The information furnished above will fairly help the MBA student in deciding the choice of University.

  1. The syllabus offered by all the colleges is uniform and there is no flexibility for the individual colleges to alter, modify, add or delete any chapters as fixed by the respective university.
  2. The almanac (University Academic Calendar) is decided well in advance by the respective universities and all colleges have to follow the duration of Class Work, Internal Examinations and Semester End Examinations.
  3. O.U colleges follow 80 Marks for end semester exam and 20 Marks for 2 internal Examinations in each subject. Where as JNTUH (New Syllabus from 2013 batch) allotted 60 Marks for end semester and 40 Marks for Internal Examinations in each subject.
  4. Osmania University Internal Assessment exams are mostly objective type except 5 bit questions where as JNTUH Internals are subjective and descriptive.
